Lakes Weekend @ Fat Lamb Inn - May 26th to 28th 2018

As discussed on the club weekends thread, please use this thread to sign up and discuss.

Saturday 26th to Monday 28th May

The proposed agenda for Sunday will be:

2-3 hour drive and stop for lunch.

1 hour drive and stop at Lakeland Museum for a couple of hours.

1.5 hour drive back to hotel.

Will update the proposed route on maps later, but the plan is to follow Tony's suggestion.

However, as Tony advises, this will depend heavily on weather, as the mountain passes may not be fun in the wet in a zed.

So we may spend more time at the museum, or take more main road routes.

Depending on what time people arrive Saturday, then we can arrange something for the afternoon/evening if there is any interest.

Depending on what time people plan to leave Monday, then we can arrange something for the morning if there is any interest.

The Fat Lamb, Crossbank, Ravenstonedale, Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria, CA17 4LL

Please call Paul directly on 015396 23242 to book yourselves in, the club is not handling the bookings.

There is a group deal for 9 or more rooms, but no more than 1/3 of rooms booked can be singles.

The deal includes breakfast and evening meal for both days. The evening meal is from a special menu, not quite the main menu.

£250 for 2 people for 2 nights.

£155 for single room for 2 nights.

There are 12 rooms, but if we run out we can look for an additional venue close by as well.

I'm glad you all enjoyed it The first time I did that drive I was in the company of a BMW z4 and a TVR Cerbera

hi Tony,

apologies, but we didn’t use your route this time.

Based on advice from the Fat Lamb owner about volume of traffic on bank holiday half term, we went on a ring North passing Teesdales, Hexham, Alston, then some of us came back via Kirkstone Pass.

Ambleside and Windermere were definitely busy even late on when we came through about 6!

Next year, we plan to book a different weekend and definitely give your route a go, hopefully with you included! :thumbup1:

Thanks,

Craig

It was good of him to take some pictures for us. His car was moving fast up that mountain.

Yes it was, I'd definitely try and stay over next year. The hotel looked nice.

Craig, will he provide you with the action shots?

Those that did it I hope you enjoyed the views from the Kirkstone Pass. It's a spectacular bit of road to drive on isn't it ?

Such a good day out, thanks to all who came along and organized it! Here's a few pictures I managed to take.

I'd have liked to have come for this jaunt but it was just too close to my going on holiday, sadly.

Looks like it was fun!

Cracking weekend had by all (I believe)

Gutted I wasn’t in the Z and was very envious when we went for our tour of the Dales/Pennines/Lakes, they all looked fab going down the road.

Deffo fancy this again another time, but think a 4 day trip would probably work a bit better, there’s a lot to cram in in just one day.

Thanks to all who organised, attended and visited. A great advert for what club meets can be!

Great pics Andrew... Love the action shots as I never see my car moving!

Great pics Dave - and thanks for sharing!!

Thanks too, to you, Tom and Scott for joining us on the Sunday. Without you, we'd have only had two zeds (Gary and Ian) - since the rest of our cars were, for various reasons, out of action:sad:

It was great to see you all though - and despite being Zedless, Julia and I still enjoyed the drive out. It was a great weekend, even though I missed my Zed; more so, when Gary and Ian fired their cars up first thing Sunday, to go out for fuel.....

Here's to the next one. Great venue, great company, great food and drink; what's not to love!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yup - a really nice touch! Mine will be pinned to my garage wall this weekend...

Mines already on my man shed!

ok, i have the pics from Paul. Unfortunately his camera battery developed a fault, so there are not as many as planned.

Also, as you will see, somebody parked right in the wrong place for one set of shots.

There are 50 pictures, which i have stuck into a 200Mb zip file and currently uploading to a google drive. (Should be done by 5pm 4/6/18).

We have almost a free reign to book dates for next year at the moment, as these are the dates NOT available:

7/8/9 May, 17/18 May, 12/13 June, 21/22 June, 27/30 Sept.

Would also avoid early June, as it clashes with the Appleby Horse Fair, which we briefly encountered.

Next year, based on discussions we had, we could be looking at a Friday - Monday event, giving us 2 clear days to drive some routes and/or visit particular destinations.

Let's start from discussion on appropriate dates, and i will start a poll once we have some options.
