Hi, thought I should start a new thread, and try and collate all the various work that the car has had since my 9 years of ownership. I cannot believe its been 9 years! and finally my Zed is going to get the respray she deserves.

I have spent the last few weeks deliberating on what colour to go for, and have decided to stick with red. At the moment that's as far as its got though, the shortlist of reds is still at 4/5 options, so more pouring over photos and visiting the odd showroom to help with the decision process. Many thanks to those of you who supplied photos and information on colours, wheels etc.

I will add some key previous threads to this post, along with photos of the stripping of the car and its subsequent paint job. I cannot wait for the beginning of February when the car is due to be transported to Kraftwork.

Was going to go with nogaro/redline red as it seemed the brightest, but it turned out it was a tri colour paint with a transparent red colour to get the candy contrast without the metallic. That was too expensive for our taste so Dad went out and picked an Audi colour I'm not sure which one.

Pictured are the OEM red, joelys red and redline on colour cards:

Truly though you must see a car with the colour you want. Colour cards really don't tell half the story of how a car will look with a colour.

I thought this year winner of best 300zx was 6KWYB? :tt2:

Looking forward to hearing about Kraftwork as I need to look for a respray soon.

I haven't got round to updating the whole Zed journey until now. I am going over to Kraftwork tomorrow, to see the progress for myself, as 90% of the car is now in primer, so a decision will need to be made soon as to the colour the car is going to be painted.

At the moment the short list is:

Porsche "Agate Grey/Silver"

Ferrari - "Canna di Fucile"

Ferrari - Grigio Medio (791)

Sorry Si, no Sapphire Grey on the list.

None of them, that Mercedes sapphire grey I showed you a few days ago is far nicer than any of those greys IMO. It's a colour that has a whole lot more 'life' than the greys posted. With all the curves on your car, you need something to shimmer and pop a little. The greys above are a little lifeless IMO. Nice, but not as nice as Sapphire Grey.

Granted, this is not the most attractive vehicle in the world, but the colour is lovely. It has a very subtle cyan flip in it which will give a much nicer gloss and sheen and will certainly accentuate the curves of your particular car. Even when the sun isn't on it, it still has a lovely sheen. When the sun hits it, this colour really pops.

If any of the above cars were painted that colour, they would look drastically more appealing IMO.

Yes I had Si, the rear arches would need to come off to do it properly though, and the budget wouldn’t stretch that far. As I bought a new set of wheels instead.

The merc grey just doesn’t do it for me Si.

I think the curves and the bulges of the car look good in grey, in a similar vain to the flared arches of the RS6

All of the shell now in primer. Doors, bootlid and front bumper should be in primer by the end of the week.

Any updates on this mate?

I spotted a very nice blue/grey Ford Focus today and thought that would look nice on a 300 but haven’t been able to find the colour online yet.

EDIT; Just found it, Stealth Grey
