i am looking at an integra type R tomorrow, great track car for sure.

cheers

steve

10 grand, now that will buy you a pukka zed!!

If you have to desert us its gonna have to be a skylark.

RX-7, great car but totally inpractical with even less boot space and no back seats. People call the back seats of the Z but they come in handy.

Or a Corsa GSI and kit up with some slammin' 18's on which grind the arches and have a sound system that stalls the car when you turn it too loud. :D

i am considering the skyline, but hear that they arent too robust. i dont want another engine rebuild please, will need to sort a goody

Dont think you will get much of a Skyline for £10000. You may be able to get a GT-S I think they are which are only RWD single turbo. Nothing much. Or you could get a R32 but they are a little old and nothing compaired to the R33 or R34.

What about a GTO/3000GT if you looking for the 4WD option. Not as easy to mod as a Z I hear, they look the part but one of the few Jap supercars that is heavier than the Z :D. No T-Tops though which is the best thing in the summer. :D

Depends what you're after but I seriously looked at a Caterham 7. I was looking at a bike engined one with 0-60 below 4 seconds. I think it was going for around £8,500.

I figured I'd keep the Z for a couple more years, and then go and buy a Bentley Turbo. £160K hyperspeed palace on wheels for about £8-£12K. How mental is that?!?! Probably more expensive to run than a Z, but similar speed........and it's a BENTLEY FFS!:D

Lancia Integrale Evolutions are loads of fun, although being a similar age to Zs, and Italian, you may have the same reliability problems.

Scooby or a Mitsubishi Evo maybe ?

i owuld like something a bit newer as well, something post 1996 ideally. still think the integra type R is a bargain, but i hear they are real noisy.

BMW 2.8 coupe are nice, but there are too many of these around. thing is everything else seems slow after running me zed at 1bar boost :(

GTiR? now they are quick, crap top end i think.

cheers

steve

ps, i think sccobies are over rated. bit like the RS turbos were.

Lexus soarer, twin turbo so lots of power and its a toyota so it should be reliable also a nice looking car and all for under 10 grand:D :D

Buy two 200SX's !!:D :D

Or buy one for

I meant less than £2,000 !!

SRRAE, you dont like the R32 do you??? in japan the r32 is the preffered car for the racers, as they are the same engines etc but lighter and a little bit more focused for driving than seeing how much G you can pull etc. So to say they are nothing when the country that makes them reckons they are better (apparently) is a little wrong :P

Then again they all look fooking ace, with r33 being the best, and then the r32 second and lastly the r34 IMHO, r34 looks a little too bulky, still, they look fooking ace!

AAAAAAanyways.

cyas

you'll be telling us Z31's are better then Z32's next. lol:D :D :D

That would be stupid! heheheh

I have seen a few Z31's and they look quite good for its age too. Simalar to the Mitsubishi Starion.

People say that the last TRUE Skyline was the R32 with its shorter wheel base makes handeling better, but its slower of the R32 R33 and R34 by far. Well not far but a noticable amount.

I know MAC calles Skylines Mondeos which I dont know where he gets that idea from cos the R33 and R34 dont look like one but the R32 does.

Stuart

Wild Turkey, I am now an ex-Z'er too :D. Still think it was best looking car I've ever had (previously I'd owned a 911 Carrera and 944, wrx, 2 x Cossies).

I *had* given meself a 6k budget :D, but I've a luvverly impreza sti v4 for sub 10k.....0-60mph 4.5secs STANDARD lol!!

The best built car i had was the 911, but the impreza was ace too, and quicker. Was makes u think they're 'overrated'? Fookin great cars m8.....only thing i dont like about em is that everyone has one. But if u wanna a reliable car.....

Integra's? not for me being n/a and fwd, dont like the look of the either.

Call me a sheep (baaa :D) but it'll be a scoob for me within a week or two.

just to add i think skylarks this side of 15k look rank....

get a bit more and go for a Honda S2000. They look sweet. Still don't have back seats tho. still can't be perfect like the old Z.

The Subarus problem is that every one has one. They are quick 0-60 becuase they are geared for it.

R32 Skyline GT-R mate.

Those that knock 'em aint never driven 'em ;)

Goto gtr.co.uk and have a look around - most GT-R have low mileage but trust me they can do plenty of miles without problems.

The RB26DETT is something to behold, a masterpeice of engineering for engineering sake (oh and racing;) )

Insurance is an absolute sh|tter though :(

I'd borrow another 6 or 7K and get an R33 though hehe.

If not why not try a Diesel Astra, they run on chip lard and methanol and thats cheap !!

i have always lusted after a skyline....but never been in one, i raced one in my zed once.... evenly matched if i say so my self.but i am running 1 bar boost.in my opinion.the zed looks as if it should go fast...and does.....it stands out in the crowd where as the skyline unless modded or in bright colours could go unseen..............but i still want one.......:D

when i was considering my next car i looked at mitsi gt 3000's but considered them way to technical and even more stuff to go wrong than the zed, tt supra too expensive for what they are, big celicas with shopping trolley handles, lexus soarers, too few service and parts options as never imported in this country afaik, rx7 i thought was too japanese looking for my liking, scoobies common as muck as are m3 beemers, celica gt4 did get a lot of consideration but i fancied something a bit bigger, lancer evo's hmm too ricey, so i went for the zed in the end. and to behonest if it ever died beyond repair i would only ever replace it with another zed. but if i had to make the choice other than a zed i would take the risk with soarer twin turbo.

youve had the experience of what not to buy and with all the friends youve made im sure you'll get a pukka beast this time!

isnt john newcombes still up for sale? go on, you know you should!! :D

it seems we all think alike. i took an accord type r out yesterday, and wasnt really impressed, apart from for 12k you get 26k miles on the clock and a nearly new car.

scoobies are fun, but like most of you on here, i think there is too many and you cant stand out......whereas the zed just cant help but stand out, especially where i live as i have only ever seen one other zed here!!!

skyline is an option, i could borrow to extra 6-7k, but i worry about another 8k rebuild which i just cant afford to happen. once bitten twice shy i guess.

jaylox, i agree mate, i certainly would know what to look for in a zed now and could probably make a better choice now. however i find that track days are real fun and i odnt think the zed is up to it. well i will test the integra type r today (they are supposed to be manic fun, red lining over 9k rpm!!), will also take a bmw 328i coupe out.

the other option i guess is to try and import a newer zed? say 1999 zed, hey! i quite like that idea,

cheers

steve

will report back on the integra type r later, after i have thrashed it about.
