They're don't, that's a US spec car.

That's correct.

I just bought on ebay...

There is no EU version of convertibles.

But 2 years ago I saw one on ebay.de, and I didn't have funds that time.

Now I sold my coupe few weeks ago, and I was looking for a convertible 300ZX

There were none for sale in Europe, so I had to look in US.

That's was a black one wasn't it? I remember seeing one on ebay.de, it wasn't that great judging by the pictures so this red one is a better idea!

Exactly. It was sold that time for about 11-12.000 EUR.

Congratulations on your purchase! What are the steps (paperwork and rules) for permanently importing the car into your country?

Thanks

Basically the same as in all EU.

Except is impossible to register car in SLovakia from USA.

So I have to register it either in Germany or Czechia.

Only these 2 countries can register american cars. Once I have EU plates/papers, I can register it in Slovakia also.

Crazy, stupid bureocracy, and at least 2000 EUR extra money.

Thanks

Basically the same in RoI for any cars, even from EU! Goes to show the EU only serves to benefit itself!

No, No don't understand me wrong

EU is good, very good in these things.

It made car import much more easier. But some countries like Slovakia or Hungary choose not to obey the rule, they are blocking the car import from outside EU, especially from USA.

Before EU we had a really difficult time to import cars even from Germany, or Austria. Now it's a piece of cake.

But from outside EU it's still a big pain in the ass.

I asked because I remember Hubert (Hub280ZX) telling me that it was difficult (as in very expensive and uncertain of success) to

register a Japanese grey or outside EU import 300ZX in France. In his case it was much easier to bring a UK Spec into France (which

is what he did on two occasions).

Up to 2016 it was impossible to register RHD cars in Slovakia, and many other countries.

EU was pushing against this, so now it's possible.

I don't know about Japan imports, but from UK is no problem now.

The only thing worriesme, is the dashboard. As I see it covered...

These cars have problems with dashboards? They are cracking?

s-l1600.jpg

We don't generally have a problem in our climate. But it might be hiding something yeah...

  • Author

Well the car was apparently in FL for many years, and only in recent years was moved to Michigan... so I think it will be cracked.

Yeah they have a problem with it in hot American climates. Could well be cracked.

The owner may have taken care of the car and bought a dash cover to protect the dash from the sun and heat. They are not

that uncommon in the hotter parts of the US. From the photo the rest of the car interior looks in good condition so you may be

lucky. In any case it is not that difficult to replace with another dash from a Euro car that is being broken and is unlikely to

have experienced the same degree of sun.

I had a Convertible Z, it was blue from memory an non turbo. From memory also, they were all non turbo. When I was importing allot of cars, I never came across a Twin Turbo model in Japan.

I also had the slick top cars which were my favourite to look at. I must find the brochures on the cars to see what was in there.

Yup - your memory serves you well Sudesh; you're dead right! The only TT convertibles were retro-fits....

And if anyone is looking for a nice 'Vert, you could do a lot worse than this one....

Your blue convertible is in this thread mate. See post 17 in the link below.

Thank you kindly Gary.....That brings back memory's. I think that Z, also smelt like new inside. I was going to start importing cars again, but currency isn't really making it real good; unless I can get the car real cheap. I had 3000GTs and Supras too, plus RX7 but never took to them. NSX is real going up.

NSX prices still high and going one way, thats up. I had a drive in our friend Nobby's yellow NSX on the Dundrod Circuit and they are great to drive but would still rate my 300zx as good and maybe better. You sorry you sold your Sudesh?

Yeah sorry I sold NSX now as I made it close to NSX-R spec, making it lighter, and loads of genuine NSX-R parts. Removing radio, engine hood for NSX-R mesh hood, added NSX-R engine parts, and so much more. But I had the Diablo too, so that keeps me happy enough. Now looking for the Pagani Zonda, but getting the right car and even finding one is hard.

I wish allot I sold the slick top Z though. It had nice lines compared to T-Top and convertible. Very hard to get in Japan now too. Juts there are holding on to them as they are shooting up in value.

Car was transported from Chicago to Miami --- it was a rough roud. Snow, rain and so on.

But now it s all packed and on the way to Europe.

You had NSX? Few years ago it was one for sale for about 22.000 EUR here, but that time I didn't have money to buy it. I ended up with a 350Z and after a new 370Z. And after it was the 300ZX, which was one of my dream cars in the 90's when I was twentysomething :)

Pagani is a different ballpark... can't even compare it with 300ZX or even NSX.

My other car on the list is Aston Martin DB9... I might be able to buy it this year if I sell something from my collection :)

How much is the cost of shipment? I'd probably have opted for PCC over container, but I expect it's cheaper in a container.
