Hi guys

So I want to return my 300zx to out of the dealership stock. So I'm after a few bits and pieces and will post as I think of them.

The first thing I'm thinking which might be tricky to find but will add a great touch of originality is a UK head unit. Does anyone know if there was a optional heigh grade unit or did they all come with the same head unit?

Also was the intake box the same for UK as J spec?

Cheers,

Chris.

I believe the UK spec cars all had the same RDS radio-cassette unit; and that the separate CD player was an option.

I don't know for sure, but I would have also thought that the OEM air-box was the same, whether UK or J-spec.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

As your car is a series 2 UK spec it will have come with these units as standard:

The air filter box assembly is the same for UK and JDM (16500-40P00).

Thanks for the info guys and a great picture. I think the head units are going to be very hard to find.

Don't you get frustrated not being able to hook up your tunes from your phone, not being able to listen to all those cool DAB station, want to hook up an amp or listen to your partner prattle on over the phone while you're driving? I can help you!!! Pull it all out very gently and I'll give you some shinny pennies to buy a new head unit. You can even have my blanking box to fill the other hole.

I know, I'm a generous soul. Be quick before someone else takes my offer :clown:

Chris...I have a UK car with original Radio/Cassette and CD head units (I also have an Alpine amp in the boot so it sounds great!)

To get to this point I did the same as you and tracked down units on Ebay and across the club...the upshot is that I have quite a large selection of both Radio/Cassettes and CD players...UK and JDM...now you have to understand that I have selected the 'best' of each... which now reside in my car...but the rest are available as a job lot is someone wanted them...they don't all work perfectly....the CDs are the hardest to get going after being on a shelf for many years...there may be a couple that are un-repairable...but there are radios (UK and JDM) that are ok and a couple of CDs that work intermittently. I spent a couple of hundred pounds building this collection ...striving for the perfect units...but if you wanted to take them and try them out you are welcome ....but they would need collecting!

PS...I'm surprised Alic hasn't called me out already!

Haha I was not sure any of them worked fluently, and if they were the ones he is after (they variate over the production years).

I think I have an airbox spare, if not I could swap for a non original one? Would have to be in December though.

If you are going for the full stock audio system then there is a rear speakers amplifier located in the boot

under the trim panel on the d/s rear wheel arch. Allthough it is probably still there, worth checking that it was

not removed during previous aftermarket audio install. The UK spec stock radio headunit has a built in amplifier

for front speakers and line level outputs to rear amp and speakers.

Sorry Alic, I missed your post. I'm in no hurry so Decembers fine if I can't find one before yours is available. Many thanks.
