Seeing as the last couple of days have been predominantly doom and gloom around here, I thought I'd have a stab at cheering everyone up.

Jimmer and I have been discussing a bit of a joint project recently. It's very much in the planning stages at the moment, but I think it could be pretty good if it comes off. There's been a lot of press coverage surrounding things like Sierra RS Cosworths and suchlike, and about how a totally pristine and original example is now fetching considerable money...

...soooo we're looking at building a completely standard 300ZX! Ideally a UK factory manual (seeing as people think they'll command the best prices in years to come) and make it completely bone stock. No 99 Spec rear lights - just nice orange lenses please... the standard airbox... standard suspension and brakes. Even a standard power output! Standard everything, basically.

There are some beautiful examples of "OEM+" cars in this club, but we want an OEM one as if it just rolled out of the factory. This doesn't mean, however, that absolutely everything that can be renewed will be renewed - that would end up ludicrously expensive! I think the idea is to only replace things that really need it. I don't know whether Jimmer would build a fresh engine for it or not... he'd have to decide that based on the car we got.

I'd certainly be renewing the interior as, no matter how well it may have been looked after, the leather would be 20 odd years old. And yes, it would be a leather interior - I absolutely refuse to make a tweed one for it!

So that's the plan, such as it is at this point. A 100% standard Z32, built by one of the most (if not the most) respected names in the community. And by me as well ;)

What do we think to that, gang?

I honestly cant remember if it was this forum or a google search, But someone had a project going of a completely stock zed, and his mission

was just like this, he was in the process of changing most bits for fresh new items, car looked really mint

might be someone on here but I cant remember sorry, That would be the car though :)

I remember someone doing that to a Supra many years ago, literally every nut and bolt he could get his hands on was replaced. The cost way exceeded what a new one cost at the time but I guess if you wanted an "as new" car and have the time and cash to burn it's the only way.

I've got a bone, stock mint UK 300ZX. It's white, Auto and around 10k miles. Not a single mod. Think it actually has it's original tyres :D

A: Don't modify it

B: Keep its provenance, quality and value by having it maintained by a specialist.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Was my dad’s from new.

Not going to mod it, just love it.

I'm sure you probably want to take that horrid head unit out and put in a nice Bluetooth unit. Tell you what I'll recycle that old unit to save you putting it in the bin.
