....As title - thank you Jimmer; you're a star mate....

As some might know, I have had my Zed in at the body repair/welder guy next door to Jimmer for the last two months. Long story short, the guy let me down badly; but luckily he didn't start the job, nor has it cost me any money.

So last Monday, Jimmer took possession of my Zed; gave it a once-over as it had been standing for two months; fixed the miss-fire that had developed since Coventry and made sure it was clean and ready for collection. Jimmer then very kindly collected me from Bristol Parkway station yesterday morning.

It was great to get the Zed back; and thanks to Jimmer's magic touch, it is once again running faultlessly.... And for all his efforts, Jimmer did not charge me a penny!!

As for the body repairs, I now have the car booked in at Dasstech on 28th October....

But once again, a big thank you to Jimmer for sorting everything out.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My 300 is with Jimmer at the moment getting a lot of work done to hopefully make it mechanically sound (Full service, belts, clutch booster, 3 coils, NEW air con rad, brake rad and clutch fluid replaced, o2 sensor replaced and probably even more I've forgotten about). It's also getting two bits of east repaired in the engine bay sorted by the same guy next door I think/hope. Can't wait to get it back hopefully before the winter sets in.

P.S. Isn't there some sort of requirement that a post like this needs pictures. ;)

That's why Jimmer and Powerzed are my number one choice, he goes the extra mile and his dedication to these cars and their owners can't be faulted:clap:

Jimmer's worked on my car a few times now and one thing I've noticed is that he just knows things. There's very little guesswork involved with him because he's so familiar with Zeds and their inherent quirks and, if there does happen to be an issue that he can't diagnose straight away, he'll work through every probability until he gets to the bottom of it. No random swapping of parts until the problem's fixed, just a solid thought process to get to the bottom of things.

There's a bit of an urban legend involving him diagnosing an issue (and designing and executing a solution) that's stumped even the specialists over in the US - not only is it true, but it's solely down to his decades of certified mechanical training that he managed to get to the bottom of it!

You don't have the facilities to take your Zed to him and work on it yourself; that's not how it works. If you take your Zed there, you get a time-served mechanic with a staggering knowledge base working on your pride and joy. And that, surely, is the point of taking your specialised car to a specialist, yes? You might as well take it to a Rent A Ramp place and have access to Google if you want to work on your own car!

Simply put, he knows his apples and I'd trust him implicitly with my pride and joy. It's a 5.5 hour journey each way for me to Powerzed and it's the probably the best money I ever spend. Hell, the guy exclusively maintains the two cars that are representing us at the NEC this year (which are arguably the two best and most desirable examples around) and their respective owners are certainly choosy about who does and doesn't work on them.

In a community with ever-dwindling numbers, that should really be the only endorsement anyone needs. :thumbup1:

I second all of that

Jimmer has done a lot of work on mine in the past and he's currently finishing off the current batch

Long may he continue !

I was his first ever customer and continue to use him to this day - I'm a fussy ******* too, but never think twice about taking my Z to him.

He was Z1's second biggest customer only being pipped to the post by Greg Dupree of SpecialtyZ who's internationally famous. That speaks volumes!

LOL - there would have been, if the guy next door had been able to complete the work......

.....But circumstances change and unfortunately this time, it was not to be.

No you were not Si, l was. I bought my first Zed off Mark Luney and collected it from his home in Belfast in 2002. Jimmer came with me to give it the once over and declared two things. He would never fly again (December Easyjet flight was rough), and the car was good. We caught the ferry from Larne to Stranraer and caused mayhem as the turning circle on the Zed didnt match the turns needed to get on the exit ramp and l had to shuffle backwards ands a couple of times to finally get off the boat. We shared the driving home to Bristol with Jim putting the car through it paces with some record breaking periods of speed. When he pulled up outside my house after a very speedy drive from Carlisle to Bristol he declared "its a good one". The following week he did a auto to manual conversion which made the car even better and that also tells you how long he has been involved with Zeds. Definitely knows his Zeds and takes very high pride in his work.

Im glad you included 'was' Si as he got pi55ed off with Z1 poor service and now goes elsewhere, he showed me a parts order a couple of weeks ago for £6800 what he had just sent off to a competitor who values his custom.

You're his Dad, that doesn't really count. ;)

I suppose not Simon, but he did do a cracking conversion job and on a Sunday too. What a son, what a star.

Jimmer was absolutely furious with the bloke next door almost to the point of losing his cool with him. He is a great body guy with brilliant metalwork and welding skills, he repaired an old Jag of mine and it was superb, but sadly he seems a bit unstable lately and is taking a break from the business which is fine but it would have been decent if he had been upfront earlier and not wasted your time.

Big Mark Luney will have blown any cobwebs out of that 300zx Old Zed. He likes the Supra now as his choice of weapon.
