Hi all,

Where is the best place to get my timing belt kit from i have a 92 nissan 300zx twin turbo import automatic. And is there anything else I should be getting whilst bits are off the car?

Buy genuine ALL the time - so Jimmer@Powerzed keeps good stocks, you could ask him (he'll fit too), Nissan, allcarpartsfast.co.uk, Z1, CZP, MJP etc etc

I'd replace all the rollers and the waterpump, again with genuine equipment.

Good too know cheers I'm slowly doing the car up it's road worthy but is a little tired. Bristol is a little far for me but going to give them a ring tomorrow because the zed is worth it.

Everything is available from your local Nissan dealer, however the belt runners are available from motor factors and are in fact the exaact same ones as Nissan supply just half the price.

There is a minimum kit that you should be thinking about>

Nissan Cambelt

Nissan Thermostat

Nissan Water pump

Whilst your there get a new genuine radiator cap ( trust me worth it )

2 x 30mm by pass hoses ( motor factor, buy a length of pipe and cut to the correct size ( £10 instead of £30)

5 litres of Antifreeze

Options after inspecting ( as may of been done )

Ancillary belts ( motor factor )

Cam belt pulleys ( motor factors )

The belt tensioner, very expensive from Nissan and not easy to find at motor factors, check for action, they often seize but can easily be freed off.

Take pictures as you strip to refer back to.

When done the timing will need to be checked with a timing light.

You can do it yourself its not too much of a problem. You just have to get the tensioner right and line everything up correctly.

Lee/Jimmer will correct the timing afterwards though which I don't think you would be able to.

Lee Dent @L A autos is half the distance I would go there instead. (Shrewsbury)

No need for that, inductive timing light £25 easy to use.
