(at last, a newish subject for me).

I previously posted regarding a problem with my 92 Jap import intermittently stalling.

Someone suggested I test the FICV(?) valves, which I did by turning on the climate control. As expected the revs raised to 1000 from 750. So I thought, problem is not here!

However, turning the CC off consistently causes the car to stall (every time!). Anyone any ideas what I should be looking at next?

I intend to change plugs, filters, oil, etc. soon. Anyone had experience with getting bits from Courtesy Nissan in the US - seems getting the whole lot in dollars for less than the plugs in pounds is good sense to me!

Aside from the stall the car is running like a peach, even in all the rain/snow! I just wonder why I didn't get one sooner!!!

I have used Courtesy 4 times now and never payed any tax on the way in , but i have a delivery at the moment sat in customs that cost £140 and customs want £45 to release it and they have said that duty should be payed every time, so bear that in mind , other than that the customer service and speed etc from courtesy is excellent.

Thanks bagins,

Tax is such a fekking rip-off - for your goods you are paying import tax on goods plus shipping, and then VAT on the lot (i.e. VAT on the import tax as well) and then excise duty on top of that (i.e. tax on vat on tax) - in all you pay tax 3 times over!

However, I'm betting it still works out cheaper!!!

Anyone got any ideas on the stalling problem?

I have a TT Auto Import and mine was doing the same idle was bad when AC was off but as soon as i turned it on the idle shot up to 1k on mine i adjusted the Throttle valve sensor thingy on the right hand side intake which has now given me an even and solid tickover whether the AC is on or not, there are two 8-10 mil bolts holding it in place. I took it off sprayed WD40 in it then adjusted it to the desired tickover.

With Courtesy, I've also used them a few times and been taxed every time. Lovely little bill comes in the post a week or so later from FedEx. Bottom line is it still works out cheaper, especially those platinum plugs!! They deliver really quick aswell. Just soo f*ckin annoying being stitched for that tax!

What pisses me off is you get taxed on delivery.

Why should we pay tax on a service that was done in the US. The vast majority of the delivery was done in the US, the transport to the airport and the flight was all done in the US.

Also watch out that they tax you on the amount of $ in £. In other words, if the cost of every thing is $300, sometimes the post office will try to charge you £300 worth of tax. Make sure they convert it to £ first.

Following the instructions here http://home.swipnet.se/e-solutions/IdleTech.html should solve your problem.

ummmmm I should count my self lucky I have had 4 deliveries and never been charged that's why i was so shocked on this occasion , gonna ring courtesy this afternoon as it does not mention anything about tax or additional UPS £10 charge on there invoice bloody tax thing is a complete con:mad:

The tax is nothing to do with Courtesy unfortunately - you can thank your friendly English government for that...

The only way around it would be to move to Jersey, I imagine (or is that Guernsey..) - one of them tax havens anyway..

And if you've got enough money to live there - I bet tax is the least of your worries :)

I'm rambling now.. I'll get me coat
