I'm just after people's opinions on the rear of the blue car. It's one of the things I've remained unsure on. Initially, I was quite set on changing them to 99spec style light but Most bypassers locally seem to like the back lights on this better than the more traditional ones. So now I'm just not sure.

What do people think

Engine bay lay out for battery and steering.

Again, all to do with driver orientation. :)

Best get started on it! :)

I think to fit that style of round lights, part of the aperture of the original light frame had to be cut out. Pure butchery.

Damn yeah, I better have a good look, I cant remember when I fitted mine whether I bashed the steel inwards, or I cut them out???

On my old breaker it was bent metal and not cut, hopefully same for you.

Thanks mate. I like the dark mesh. Not really sure on the panel though. Funnily enough, I've just been out as it was going to swap the lights over and do the wiring but the bolts ard different. So I'll have to change the panel. The other panel is black so it will need painting after way, but would look similar to the above. Not sure whether dark or blue though.

Would you mind darkening the front mesh for me as if I do the back, I'd want the front to match I think

Awesome. Thanks very much. I quite like the car mesh so may well paint it up when the weather picks up.

Wonder what people's thoughtthouhhts are on the dark rear panel?

Dark rear panel, significant improvement

Agreed but I still think stock lights or 99s would look better.

I dont think they work well with the smooth boot lid lump thing. Too many straight lines where as the stock options create an oval effect of the rear light panels.

No, no Z32 came with mesh in the bumpers.

Ditch it. :)

I agree - OEM 1990-spec looks better without the addition of mesh. Better for clean air-flow to assist cooling too....

Only JDM '99 specs had a mesh.

......And yes; when I upgraded my red Zed with an OEM 99-spec (thanks Mike F), it did come with the mesh....... Which I ended up ditching too. However that was in part due to a seagull flying through it, whilst I was doing (ahem) 70mph on the A39 in Cornwall...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I like that - go for this look, Lee....

Of course, like the other purists, I still prefer the 99-spec rear lights; however with your wide-arse and twin-single round exhausts sticking through the bumper, the round lights continue the theme well.

But definitely go for the black panel - Andy Isherwood did the same (albeit with carbon fibre) on his cherry-red SWB a few years back. Again, this looked great for a round-light conversion.

These are Andy Isherwood's photos of his carbon fiber black panel and Hella lights with his original thread on the subject.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

I still think; the only mature modification; not a boy racer look, is the Strosek one.

Strosek just got it right from the start.

Thanks fellas. I have a brack panel here so that'll save me any painting etc, unless I decide on going back to blue or a real dark grey like FunkySi initially suggested.

If I'm honest, I think that 99 spec would look best as well but not an easy option so at the minute, it's not really in the conversation so to speak. The hella lights I have are the more chrome type to Andys too
