Looking to install some hubcentric bolt on spacers.

I am not entirely sure what size I need (?)...I have been advised that with my wheel size and offset ...I 'could' go with 20mm & 25mm...but a bit of measuring and trial fitting with washers leaves me thinking that more than 15mm may cause the tyres to foul the wheel arch...but I am not sure how much travel there is in the suspension (stock...not lowered)

So if anyone has any spare I would be interested...not looking to spend out on 'new' until I know what sizes will work!

Thanks

Gary

If you got some specs of the wheels (offset) and maybe some pictures, I'm sure the likes of Joely (etc.) can give you some advice on fitment.

Sorry Gary, I forgot to respond to your last message.

Your wheel specs are:

Front 8 x 19 ET 40 Tyres 235/35/19

Rear 8 x 19 ET 40 Tyres 245/35/19

Rears are narrower than stock TT wheels, as I've said, I personally would not fit this spec. The spec is suitable for front wheel drive cars ideally and will look a little odd even when spaced well. Having said this, you should be able to fit 20mm at the front and 25mm at the rear. Studs wouldn't be protruding with bolt-on hubcentric spacers.

For example, I currently run 9" fronts at ET25, you won't have issues with rubbing as my wheels are an inch wider at the fronts, so running a 20 effective-offset on the front should be no problem. My rears are 10" wide which is 2 inches wider than yours @ ET35. I personally think you could get 25mm spacers on the rear with you 8" wheel, but 20mm all round should be ok.

I strongly advise you consider selling them if I were you and to get some wheels that fit a better (width and offset).

For example, a typical offset that many run. 9.5" @ ET35 (rear). In comparison to what I am suggesting for yours, 8" @ ET40 with a 25mm spacer giving you ET15 effective

Fronts, typically most run 8.5" with an ideal offset of ET25 vs 8" ET40 with a 20mm spacer (ET 20 effective).

Based on my suggestions on a known fitment vs advised fitment on the given spec, there's a variance of only 1mm. Sure, you need to take tyres in to account, but they're near as dammit.

Thanks for the info and advice...I agree that they are not ideal..but currently I couldn't justify replacing them (financially)

They are 19" TSW multi spokes (17 spoke) ...similar to the the TSW Chicane...but an older model I guess....I really like the look of them on the Z...and I would have preferred them to be wider...but I don't think anyone would look at them... and immediately think they were too narrow...the offset however is NOT right hence me wanting to widen the stance a little to improve the look.

My measurements and test fit worried me a bit...but I am happy to accept the advice of others with experience in this area...so I will be looking for a pair of 20mm and a pair of 25mm

Its the grip I would be concerned about, having less contact patch than the stock wheels? You should be upgrading grip not downgrading.

Agreed, I'd actually rather have stock TT wheels to be honest, they'll look like biscuits too.

Which was the wrong thing to do!

Well I'm sure they did their homework even though I agree with you. All this grip and width thing is something I've been meaning to look at more critically. That's a separate thread though.

Don't forget guys that JDM TTs came with a square set up. No bigger rears.

Indeed and they look terrible at the rear. So skinny and unflattering.

Three have holes so would need longer studs to be safe

Thanks...but I would like bolt on spacers.....and after taking advice from others...20mm & 25mm

Yeah, don't bother with slip on hubcentrics if there are bolt-ons available.

Typically 15mm and upwards are available as a bolt on. You do have to check with this incase your wheels don't have recesses in the back of the hub face as the shallower spacers, the bolts will produde slightly.

Plus the fact unless you have the extended bolts already the rears are a pain to find. Fronts are ok but not rears.
