I've just managed to buy two brand new door cards for what I concider to be a good price. They are the wrong colour ( I can deal with that) and they are for the later series cars with b pillar mounted belts.

I think I will convert the car to the later style belts, does anyone have an opinion on which is better ( people always trap the belt in the door at the moment) plus I don't want to hack up new door cards.

On a general note I'm really excited about these as I have replaced almost all of the interior plastic and the current door cards are letting the interior down.

I know someone (Simon) who has modified their cards. I do prefer the 'B' pillar style, it looks neater and is arguably

safer in the event of a door opening in an accident.

From a practical point of view IMO its a no contest. Series 2 onwards(B pillar) wins hands down.

My first slicktop was ser 1 and then I bought the 95 version S and drove that .

So I have experience of both.

Now of course I have harnesses in my current slicktop which are a bit of a PITA ....but neccessary.

Thanks guys

I think this is the direction I will take, getting hold of a good set of upper door covers with no belt holes might be another challenge though.

I assume the belts can be reused in the b pillar location?

Thanks guys

As I remember belts swap over...

Getting then top covers for a SWB door will be a challenge.

Getting your original ones with holes recovered in leather/vinyl is probably easier

I did modify my S2 door cards in order to retain my door mounted seat belt fixtures. I did a full retro-fit using US spec rear quarter interior panels which didn't have any holes in them. Granted, yours is a shortie.

Personally, I like the door mounted belts, they look a little different, they fit the emptiness of the door pillar which always looks like it should serve a purpose in having something bolted to it and it's what mine came with.

Practically speaking, the belt is a closer reach and easier to put on and I haven't yet forgotten to undo my seat belt when trying to exit the car.
