Have you checked the clutch booster isn't leaking? Do you have any disconnected vacuum hoses?

Try operation with the engine on and off, if there is no difference between the two for clutch feel then you likely have an issue with the booster. It may be faulty or simply disconnected.

Your car may have had a conversion from auto to manual and done simply by not fitting the clutch booster. Powerzed in Bristol sells them new if you need one.

My booster was leaking and I found it through I had a rough idle at about 2k rpm

I undid the brake vacuum pipe from clutch booster, I sucked on the end to try to get a vacuum, like you did when you were little with a plastic bottle and it would stick to your tongue, this would prove it held its vacum on the clutch booster I found then that it didn't and replaced it

The brake booster is at the Rear O/S of the engine bay - Large, round, black, fixed to firewall - with the Brake master cylinder bolted to the front of it.

There will be a hose from the Intake manifold to the Brake booster. If its an original MT car, them there will be a hose from it going off behind the Front wing to some plastic air tanks, any of the hoses to and from it, or the tanks themselves could be split. They can be accessed by removing the Inner arch liners, or removing the Front wing/arch itself.

- Check for splits in all the hoses and tanks.

- Check its not been fitted the wrong way round - There is a one way valve inside.

- See if you it will pull/hold vacuum by sucking on the main hose to the Booster.

You can unbolt the brake booster with 4x nuts from the drivers footwell.
