Anyone up for a track day?

April time probably. Probably a morning or afternoon only to reduce costs. Open to suggestions, I was looking at a session at Abingdon Airfield just off the A34. Thruxton would be ideal for me but they don't do many car track days.

Would like to attend a track day this year, but april is a bit soon for me. Ill see what pops up over the year.

Depending on a few things ( noise regulations for the track particularly) I'd be up for it,

I'm doing brands Hatch on the 5th of February,

Would like to try goodwood at some point.

Some very varied prices at brands aren't there. There's a new one available in Exeter but it looks like they are only doing experience days at present. Castle Combe often available but quite expensive.

Why would there be? :)

I meant time wise rather than mirror signal manovre issues

Take it in your Z, the examiner will be distracted and you will pass. Worked for my mate in a stripped out caged mini.

lol he would probably think i'm trying to kill him :D

But no need I already passed ;)

Brands prices are all over the place, so are the type of event and noise regulations, but I've done brands a fair few times, so definitely interested in somewhere else.

My silver one is 100db with the bungs in, that's my issue, then again I've the na too which is much quieter, and slower...

Good news on the test Ali, your issue would probably be track insurance, your too young for some of them, not mandatory, but after all that work would be a shame if something happened,

Thanks, I would like to get the shortie MOTd, but gotta slot in when i can get the little hole sorted out

Goodwood is a lovely circuit. Had a wail of a time a few years back in the Z, soaking wet in the morning and dry as a bone in the arvo, and they had free tuition AND the chance to go for a blast with Anthony Reid (former btcc God) in a new exige cup! Awesome day!

I'm also looking at doing a day at Abingdon to re familiarise myself with my Z after all the works finished, which is looking like mid spring g time.

Only downside to Goodwood is it's pretty expensive (£225 for the day) vs Abingdon which is £90-120

Airfield based tracks are always cheaper than the established race tracks.

You get what you pay for basically.

Dont forget Japfest Silverstone on April 30th.

Individual sessions available to buy now in advance.

300ZX. co .uk had a good number of cars there on a joint stand.

This doesnt look like its happening in 2017.

Im still attending and booking 1 or 2 track sessions.

You dont need to be on a club stand as there is a dedicated track time area available.

I did intend to do Japfest' track time option. However last year the ticket sales were very quick and we don't appear to have much interest in the event this year.

Personally I'm not a fan of track time at shows. Always seem to have idiots out there trying to show off or have something to prove, nor do I think they offer any real value for money.

Agree with what Pete says about airfield day. Find they are much close to road conditions than track in terms of surface quality, but are good for this wanting to establish how their car behaves when pushed in a less intimidated/Armco lines environment, but nothing g flows like a dedicated circuit

Cool, looks like a few interested parties. Let's start looking at date/location options. Then we can make enquiries and make a list. I'm happy to take lead with the organisation, bear with me though for obvious reasons. Be really good to get a few members out to stretch our legs a bit rather than another static show. We have plenty of those.
