It will soon be time to apply for Club Stand allocation for JAE 2017, and I will be attending the Club Reps meeting in March to see what is happening this year.

The prices are still the same as last year, at £45 for 4 day event with camping, or you can obtain a £20 day pass on the Saturday.

However, the day pass will not allow you to bring your car to the club stand, according to the current details in the JAE news.

Thought we should start some discussion off rather than a poll to start with.

Should we request a stand, and will anybody be attending if we are allocated space?

No matter where they locate it the format is old and tired.

Single day entries are not encouraged.

I dont do "camping" and I dont see the attraction of sitting round a portable barbeque watching foul mouthed idiots making a spectacle of them selves after several dozen cans of beer/cider. BTW Im NOT referring to anyone on here.

I last went for a day in 2012 to Wickstead Park...that was very pleasant but......................

2017..no thanks.

Not for me I like more classic car shows.

2002 Porsche C2 996 3.6
1991 Nissan 300zx TT Project

1995 Nissan 300zx TT Crashed 🥲

1997 Jaguar XK8 Scraped ☹️

Sadly Pete is right; this is why JAE is no longer for me either...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Went to the reps meet today, saw the layout, got the lowdown on whats going on.

The space allocated for us is ok, fairly central to the action, no problem here.

They seem to be trying harder to keep people entertained, and utilising a lot of the indoor space for show'n'shine and other special activities.

Guessing it might still be a lonely place to be on the club stand at the moment though :-/

Also, Sunday clashes with another local event now.

Sounds like a painful chore!

No thanks as the whole JAE circus is an over priced let down imho..

Thanks for putting the time and effort into this Craig. This year should decide where the club and members are going with this show and it looks like we have outgrown it. We have had some great times there but I speak for myself when I say its a good show for teenagers having a laugh but for me I have moved on and want something different.

Japday at castle combe, now called JDM combe was pretty good last year.

I went with my 240z and will be taking my 300zx this year. Anyone fancy that instead ?

I've been toying with it, was it busy?

I've been toying with it, was it busy?

It wasn't too busy, just right if I'm honest, lots to see and you could get around as well .

I found japfest was too busy for me.

I'll see if I can find some pics .

So out of all the members if the club, no one wants to go to jae? So do we still have a space at the event or has it been given up? I'd like to know as I've been planning on going to this..

Do we still have a pitch Craig?

  • Author

yes, we still have a pitch.

I will be going Friday and Saturday, not sure about camping yet, as we live nearby.

Sunday, i will be going to the meet at Bury St Edmunds Sports and Classics by the Lake, in aid of a local hospice.

Well I'm hoping to go through Thursday to Sunday but that will be dependant on the weather I think.. Lol.

I meant to ask, have we got an events calendar?

Ive never been able to find a page on the forum that clearly shows all upcoming events?

I don't know if it is just me, but I look through the main forum page and I never seem to find a pagetgat shows the events planned for the club?

Do we actually have an events page?

If not, is there a way to sort one out so that all events are listed on the one place and easy to locate?

I only ever seem to find out about events when someone asks me if I'm going, so im aware this may just be an issue for me, I may not be looking in the right place but I think it would improve attendance if people can actually see the upcoming events on a calendar so they can plan the time to come to them.

If I'm missing a page, can someone please point me towards it, as I need to be able to plan things and a simple calendar would be very helpful..

PM me if you would like to contribute.

Ive added links and locations where possible to the events.

It is possible to embed it to a webpage if you think that's a good idea...
