Attempting to get a 1990 TT auto jap import back on the road for the summer. Its sat of the road for over 7 years so obviously it needs all the fluids replaced but what else is recommended? I've already replaced the fuel lines under the bonnet and most Vac lines as well as some new fuel. I think I'm looking at a timing belt kit and a full service including brake fluid, auto box oil and diff oil. Pretty much all of the breaks need done as well.

Anything made of rubber needs checking / changing, the tyres will be toast even if they look okay, they are over 7 years old and most likely got flats on.

tires are gubbed anyway but have held pressure which is impressive lol. What engine oil is recommended for these engines?. Are we talking pipes made of rubber or every rubber bush on the car? forgot to mention the car has 67k on the clock and engine has been rebuilt under 2k ago before it was parked up.

Any good quality make of oil provided it is a 10w x 40 semi- synthetic will be fine, no need for overly expensive stuff as you will be changing it and the genuine Nissan filter every 3k to 5k miles depending on driving style.

One of the very weak points on the zed engine is the cooling system, this if not 100% will let you down and toast a perfectly good engine, the rebuild whilst a good bonus is also dependant on who did it and to what level.

Cars that have been laid up for extended times can be troublesome once back on the road so the re-commissioning needs to be extensive or you will find yourself with a potential break down every other time you use it which is plain daft, get it done correctly and then enjoy the ride as they say.

progress on the z.. Sorted out all of the tied and taped radio wiring with standard iso connectors to make things easy in future. Fitted the blitz ebc thats been in the boot forever but i have no idea what to aim for with the settibgs when i finally get the confidence to push the boost? Also how far is the ariel supposed to extend out of the rear quarter? there is a spare in the boot and im guessing around 20cm is too small. Also where is the best place to get a genuine nissan oil filter and is the fuel filter make important?

Nissan oil filter A5208H890C + copper drain washer 1102601M02 drain washer approx £11

Did an oil change today.

Hi and welcome to the club Martin!

Good luck with your new project - I think the bases have pretty much been covered above.....

...Id also pay attention to the brake calipers. Even those cars in regular use suffer from the calipers seizing, becoming sticky or just generally needing a good refurb; as age and the stresses of stopping a 1.5 tonne sports coupe from high speed take their toll.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
