Good evening,

I've just joined as am thinking of getting a 300zx. It's a car I've wanted since I was young.

Well I figured the best place to start would be an owners forum. Hopefully any advice I might need I will get here.

So on that note a big thanks in advance.

I would recommend an NA, they drive much better than a TT in my opinion. They also sound a lot better and they still go really well.

I would rather a high quality NA than an average TT for the same price

I'm fairly sure you were considering a TT swap into your old 99 Spec one....

Cheers for the heads up. Had a look, seems quite nice. How reliable are the gearboxes on the autos? I guess you hear bad press as people talk about it if they have a problem but you don't hear about the ones running without issues.

I've never had an auto TT but Id imagine as long as you service them properly they'd be reliable. You could always do a manual conversion. The car is a very nice example. Low milage. Little bit of tlc needed as it's been sat for a year.

The auto boxes are fine as long as they are looked after, once they go wrong though, well people just to go round in circles fitting replacements that fail. the manuals are far more reliable and stronger, the autobox can't handle much more than sock power.

If your going NA I wouldn't go for the autobox, more weight and makes things sluggish. If your looking at NAs it's swb manual or nothing imo. Preferably a slick top. The turbos you can compromise Lwb, auto not such a drastic problem overall condition is more important.

George....I have a 1990 JDM TT Auto that I have spent the last 18 months renovating to a very good (not perfect) standard.....I am considering embarking on another Z related project that would necessitate me letting my current car go.....so if you are interested.... have a look at my 2016 Car of the Year entry....don't be put off it got '0' votes :censored:....there were some super special cars it was up against!

That's a very tidy looking car. Fantastic job on the interior.

Hope im allowed to post this? But this is an ad from one of the facebook group.

300zx Strosek Manual FSH 400+bhp£4,000

Lichfield

Now on eBay. Offers welcome to end early.

Starting price £4000.

Item number 182414055014

Nissan 300zx Z32 Twin Turbo.

Manual.

10 months MOT.

Full service history up till 99k, now showing 122k.

Amazing upgrades over factory standard as listed below.

Mega expensive Strosek wide body consisting of Strosek front and rear bumpers, Strosek wide body fenders and Strosek side skirts, Strosek rear lights and a high level spoiler to finish, all blended into the bodywork and then painted blood red.

Made to order for the Strosek wide body are a set of Speedline Mistral 18" alloys with a 4.5 inch dish on the rears.

245 tires to the front and massive 285 tires to the back.

Running over 400+ bhp.

Remapped.

Stainless exhaust system.

Intake.

Larger intercooler.

Hybrid turbo's.

500bhp clutch kit.

Lowered suspension handles like a dream.

Upgraded ARB front and back.

Upgraded brake discs and pad's.

Cruise control and all electrics work.

Awesome car which turns heads everywhere it goes.

Have full V5 which the buyer can take and send off themselves as I took this in part exchange recently on my mums car, have driven and tested the car and everything seems spot on, the engine runs fantastically and the history shows its been looked after as well as the spec list being so high and expensive aswell, only selling to help my mum and save her any stress of time wasters so please only message or make an offer if you are genuine as the car is listed genuinely 1f642.png:)

This is not a brand new car so has a few marks, the alloys could do with being polished again if you want them sparkling however these are worth £2000 second hand on there own! Mega low offset rare custom made alloys, the only thing it will need doing is the rear sills for the next MOT at end of this year but these are £300 max according to ZedWorld's website price list and the only reason it is priced so cheaply, just being honest as you can see.

Deposit required straight away upon agreement of sale price without fail and payment of remaining balance and collection to be made within 5 days.

Any questions just ask.

Thanks for looking.

I hate to say it but I'm really not keen on that one. I like the interior but the kit doesn't seem right to me. I'm sure I've seen the kit before years back when I went to JAE. I liked it then but I guess I've mellowed as I've got older and now it seems a little much for my taste. But appreciate the post.

Strosek kit, popular in the 2000s but its gone out of fashion a bit imo.

Is age a big factor? From looking I've seen quite a few that are from the early 90's. Ideally I'd like something a little newer and fresher import wise. Just considering the damage our salted roads can do.

You'll be paying a decent price for that privilege. Most of the imports now seem to either be 94-95 or, very occasionally, 98-99. The latter, obviously, cost more.

But of course if you buy from Japan, the older cars can still be found in decent condition.

You might already know, but they stopped being sold in the UK in about 94 but continued to be made/sold in Japan until 2000 I believe. So whilst it's not as if there are UK zeds about in abundance, that's why there are more early cars.

You have to be a bit wary of imports that have been here for a while though IMO. My old 92 zed was imported in 2006, not undersealed so far as I can tell and is now corroded underneath, the sills have been done and the arches are going. My new 95 zed imported about 4 months ago was clean as a whistle, it's now undersealed and full of cavity wax.

I presume UK zeds had more protection from the factory. So unless it's been taken care of, an import that's been here a while could well be worse than a UK zed

Also there were many many more cars sold in 1990 compared to later years.

If they are taken care of or not is more of a factor than age or mileage.

Yea they're all old now!

Yes and to a degree you may be right. It is one I keep coming back to. Although you couldn't be much further from me. And it is probably more than I'd want to spend on a na. Not that I'm questioning the value of the car.
