I've always liked the S10 as another friend of mine had a 4-cylinder S10 many moons ago. As we don't get them here, they are a bit of a novelty and I might ship it to the UK some day.

I had been looking around for a 300zx or some sort of GM manufactured coupe from the early 2000s, but when my friend said he had an S10 sat in his back yard, I jumped at the chance! It's a V6 extended cab, it's a Texas truck, so the underside is rust free and the paint is surprisingly good. It needs a new door and rear bed....oh, and the small matter of a replacement engine which we have, although I am considering an LS swap (V8) as they bolt straight in.

If I'd gone for another 300zx, I'd have ended up with another project Z and I wanted something cheap with cheap parts. This cost me the princely sum of $1000.

Plans are as follows after the replacement panels have been bought and the replacement motor installed:

*Junk the toolbox - that horrible thing that sits on the bed behind the cab.

*Powdercoat the rails on the bed to a satin black

*Clear indicators

*Replace the aerial

*Later spec dash bezel to fit a double DIN headunit with GPS

*Silverado steering wheel

*New carpets + matts

*Tinted door glass

*Power window and lock swap

*Corvette sawblades - I want to try and squeeze the 11" versions on the rear.

All super cheap stuff to do. It has everything else you'd expect from a poorly made American vehicle, so it includes cruise control and air conditioning. I kinda fell in love with it when I saw it, don't ask me why!!!

This is what they look like with the Corvette wheels.

God no! I have 2 white cars, this will be the 3rd. It's staying white. The paintwork is actually really good, just needs a polish. I've done a few small areas and it came out really well.

Could always take it to Richard Rawlings for a gas monkey makeover .
