Hi I am very new to the 300zx. Always wanted one when I was 10. So 6 weeks ago I purchased a 1990 jape Na auto model with 40000 milēson the clock. Everything

Works as it should and recently drove up and back from the nec classic car show without an issue. However i went to use my car this week and it started to splutter and idle high. So today i took it for a spin and will only go to 2500 rpm then then idle gets erratic and wont go over 40mph. I read that the maf may be at fault so I have removed the induction kit, plug from maf and cleaned throttle flaps with Carb cleaner, I also tested codes on ECU and got 1 long flash and two shorts. Which I guess is maf. Car runs the same with maf connected and removed and still same problems.... what should I be looking for

Any help would be much appreciated

Sounds like you are in limp mode with probably the MAF at fault as you say. I can't really suggest anything other than trying a known working MAF so ill let others make some suggestions.

Oh and welcome to the club

thanks for the welcomes.... another question... if U have a faulty maf will you still get the same symptoms with it plugged. Because mine is doing it both ways. Is the only way to clear the code and resume normality by having a working unit

One long and two short is code 12, which is MAF circuit. The code plus your symptoms I'd agree with your diagnosis. They don't like getting wet, common issue with them.

Try drying it out but I suspect it's potentially shot. Remember the code is for the circuit not specifically the MAF itself. So damaged/poor wiring or connections could yield the same fault. Unplugging the MAF, it should run much smoother but be limited to about 3k. You may need to reset the ECU to achieve this.

think that's what it may be I snow foamed the car and thoroughly washed it. So shall I follow the wiring back and buy a new loom and connector? thanks for the responses much appreciated

Just try unplugging the MAF and drying it in the airing cupboard first. After that I'd try a known working MAF.

If you end up buying a MAF, don't buy a cheap Ebay job from China as they cause issues

I've got a fault with the interior blower fan, first it worked fine, then only worked now & then, now does'ent work at all, is it possible to replace the bushes, or will i need a new unit, and if so does it need to be a 300zx blower or is the same unit fitted to other Nissan models.

Well we didnt really list one. So I used some suppliers and got a delphi one delivered...not easy to get hold off

Be interesting to see what kind of signal readings it produces on a Consultant screen.
