Just like to say hello to everyone from a new forum member.

I have recently rejoined having lost all the login details that I used a few years ago.

I have a UK manual 300zx TT and have owned it since Xmas 2001. Car was supplied from new to a banker in London as a company car on a 3 year lease (nice job to get a brand new 300ZXTT as a company car hey!!!) and was subsequently purchased by him from the lease company at the end of the 3 years.

Since owning the car I had the engine and Turbos stripped and rebuilt with all new parts by a superb mechanic friend of mine, as a precaution with the intention of keeping the car for ever.( I was amazed that when we stripped the engine with 99K miles on it that there was still slight evidence of the original honing marks in the bore and the bore tolerances were still within Nissan spec of manufacture! Shows what a good engine design these are.

I also had the car fully stripped back to the shell and repainted by another mate who was a body shop manager in a multiflip by Dupont and lacquer by PPG.

The mileage is 107K ish, having done only 8K miles since the rebuild some years ago.

I sent the ECU to the US to get the chip upgraded by JWT (I was told at the time this was about the best chip upgrade), had a custom exhaust made by a local company with "X" pipe and fitted Tokico 5 way dampers.

I have kept the car all these years believing that one day soon these will become a valuable classic and that I will be sitting on a fortune! Sadly as yet this has not happened and I'm wondering if you guys in the know have any thoughts on this!

Any opinions welcomed.

Regards Dipstick.

Cant bl***y believe it!! It works!!

Thanks Alic for the help. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!!

Must be quite the eye catcher!

Or one LSD Tab too many perhaps?! lol.

Well, I liked it, but I know some loved it, some hated it.

The best thing is the PPG lacquer, this has been washed with a sponge and bucket for years and there isn't a single swirl mark on it. Paint is diamond hard!!

So much for progress and saving the environment! :cool2:

Well, I find that your "flip" paintjob doesn't actually look anywhere near as bad as I imagined it would do!

It actually looks better on your Zed than on all the Rovers and suchlike that all got painted like that years ago... nice looking example, that one :thumbup1:

Well thank you kind Sir!

I think the curves do the flip justice whereas flat angled panels just look like someone sprayed each Panel a different colour!

Appreciate the +ve comment but understand it's a Marmite thing. In really bright sunlight, flips from jet black to very gold.

Surprisingly there's another Z here with a very similar paint job!

Yes, I'd seen that but couldn't blow the avatar up large enough for a proper look.

That's a cracking looking car Mr Dipstick, looks ace mate.

Thanks for that, appreciated. Perhaps someone looking for a Zed will be equally appreciative when I list her for sale!!!

Yes that's it! Lovely looking car and love the rear arches.

When I first looked into the "flip" paint, the only one I liked was made by DuPont at £800 per litre and I was told I'd need 5 litres.

Luckily the guy who engineered the colour left DuPont to set up on his own and I was one of his first customers. Still cost me a few vital organs but less than DuPont wanted.

Thanks for the pictures. I remember a stunt team called "steer from the rear" using the same colours on their 300's!

Loving the pics mate great looking Z :thumbup1:

Thanks Gaz, appreciate not everyone will like the colour but I think it looks well on a bright sunny day.

Not bad for a 14 year old paint job hey? Lol

Hi Guys.

Well I've finally made the decision to sell so I have (hopefully) listed all the relevant info and pictures in the classified section.

Hope someone will enjoy the ownership as much as I did.

Dipstick.
