Just like to say hello to everyone from a new forum member.

I have recently rejoined having lost all the login details that I used a few years ago.

I have a UK manual 300zx TT and have owned it since Xmas 2001. Car was supplied from new to a banker in London as a company car on a 3 year lease (nice job to get a brand new 300ZXTT as a company car hey!!!) and was subsequently purchased by him from the lease company at the end of the 3 years.

Since owning the car I had the engine and Turbos stripped and rebuilt with all new parts by a superb mechanic friend of mine, as a precaution with the intention of keeping the car for ever.( I was amazed that when we stripped the engine with 99K miles on it that there was still slight evidence of the original honing marks in the bore and the bore tolerances were still within Nissan spec of manufacture! Shows what a good engine design these are.

I also had the car fully stripped back to the shell and repainted by another mate who was a body shop manager in a multiflip by Dupont and lacquer by PPG.

The mileage is 107K ish, having done only 8K miles since the rebuild some years ago.

I sent the ECU to the US to get the chip upgraded by JWT (I was told at the time this was about the best chip upgrade), had a custom exhaust made by a local company with "X" pipe and fitted Tokico 5 way dampers.

I have kept the car all these years believing that one day soon these will become a valuable classic and that I will be sitting on a fortune! Sadly as yet this has not happened and I'm wondering if you guys in the know have any thoughts on this!

Any opinions welcomed.

Regards Dipstick.

Hi mate and that's a while you've had that uk Z for.

Any pics?

Hi Alic.

Thanks for the reply. Had loads on an old computer but the hard drive failed and lost them and a whole lot more.

Will have to take some more but do I need so many posts before I can put them up?

Colour similar/same as one of the guy's on the forum with the flip paint!

Its "L" reg 1994 should have said. Do you reckon the value will rise in the near future?

Welcome along. :)

The flip paint may limit your sphere of potential buyers (a very acquired taste) but, if it's as good an example of a UK Zed underneath that, then you should be onto a winner at some point in the future. :thumbup1:

Hi Gaz

I'm really out of touch these days on their value to be honest! I was hoping someone here would tell me! Lol.

I got it in 2001 and spent a fortune on it what with full engine work and bodywork. Then watched the prices fall away.

I think it probably owes me £18K inc the purchase price but I know you never get it back.

Trouble is I hate selling anything but you just run out of space in the end don't you!

Guess I'm a hoarder at heart! Lol.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.

Yes I know what you mean on the colour! When I first had it painted it was just about the only car in that colour and stayed that way for a few years.

It became popular later but now colours and wraps have moved the game on.

The PPG lacquer is just the hardest surface of any paint I've encountered and so easy to keep looking good.

These days modern paint is p**s poor in comparison.

Do you still have to old hard drive? Often the chip fails but the actual disk inside it can be recovered.

It's not the matter of posts but you will need to use an external image hosted unless you subscribe to the forum.

They are slowly rising in value being seen as a classic more than a drift missile, but it will be a few years until we see cars selling numbers surpassing £10k, but a some mint ones have sold around 8k and the general price for good condition ones is around 5-6k (for manual TT)

If it as good as I think it is then imo it should be insured for at least 12k maybe more.

But let's be real, what it's worth is not what someone will pay for it. I wouldn't believe a zed would sell for £12k unless it were Joelys or Sis, for while I've been here there hasn't been one close.

Thanks for the info, that's very interesting.

I guess if I could get around £7K or close then I would sell as I just can't store everything!

I'd love to wait and see the price rise but looking at a property abroad so it's a question of priorities I guess.

Well worth 7k and if you want to sell then get yourself subscribed and put a for sale add up.

No, you are spot on.

You put money in for the love of the car, very rarely do you see much of it back.

I'd just like to see it go to a real enthusiast if I were to sell it, not to someone who will wrap it round a tree on the first wet day they had it!! Lol.

Certainly a car for the enthusiast and all the good one's are now owned by such people.

I have a hunch that Gibster's widearch sold for considerably more than £12k...

In my opinion Good UK Z's are worth a lot more than imports of the same calibre they will be more sought after and there demand will command higher prices. Just my opinion and time will tell.

Welcome back to the club, prices are rising and there is no tax on selling classic cars, so investment is still worthwhile.

This is true - unless you are in the business of selling cars for profit, of course.... HMRC has always viewed cars as a "wasting asset" because they nearly all depreciate; and are deemed to have a finite useful life of less than 50 years. Classic cars are still cars and therefore receive the same tax treatment - so no CGT....!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Hello again guys.

So I finally had time today to get the old girl out of the garage and give her a quick wash. (Did the car at the same time!, so thought I'd post up a few photos of my Marmite coloured 300ZXTT)

Now everyone is going to realise why I get called Dipstick (and some other less choice names) when I ask if anyone can provide me with an idiot's guide (and I do me complete idiot!!) to uploading photos please.

I have used the search button above and got a list of threads but couldn't see one about how to post photos and I have no idea about "photobucket!" or how to use it. Please don't despair, I'm one of the original Flintstones!!

Any help ( expecting abuse:blushing:) very much appreciated.
