Im getting ready for some new pads in my 350Z gold brembo front calipers.

I have been using a set of Porterfield R4S compound which have been superb.

I was going to change to some Ferodo DS2500s as the Porterfields are not readily available in the UK and are quite pricey.

Price is not an issue tho.I just need a pad that works on track 100% and is acceptable on the road.

Does any one have any thoughts/suggestions??

Also under consideration are.... Hawk HP+ (not HPS) or Project MU HC800 (not NS400) or EBC Bluestuff.

Have a search on here;

They have a very help trader Alex I think his name is who will be able to tell you exactly what's good and what's crap.

Cheers mate.

All the pads I have listed are good , I already know that.

Info from 350Z users is not always relevant as they are dealing with a much heavier car.

The stopping power of the bembos on my lightish car is truly awesome and if Im not careful even midway thru a track session I can still lock up the brakes. And Im still on a plain std disc.!!

Im looking at a new grooved + dimpled set up maybe to go with the new pads.

I know many people on here will just be using std or mildly uprated "fast road pads" but I was curious if anyone had used anything on my list. I have used DS2500s on other set ups and liked them and I dont want to go to DS3000 on a car that is still street used.

I'm running Brembo Sport pads on my GTR Brembos (fronts essentially the same as the 350z). They've seen some hard abuse through the canyon roads in southern France - they're very good, but really noisy.

If price is not an issue why not just stay with the Porterfield R4S pads even if it means sourcing them overseas?

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

I may well do so as they have been good. It was just a good time to look around and see what else there is.

Thanks for your input Si. Brembo make high quality stuff. A bit of digging reveals this description by Brembo...

Designed and tested for predominantly performance-oriented street use, Brembo Sport brake pads represent the first upgrade level for any braking system.

Im looking for somehing one level up from that...(in terms of temp operating range)

Short track work like at Three Sisters is very hard on brakes and tyres. There are 6 major braking points in the space of the 1100 metre track and at 45sec a lap there is no time for anything to cool down, unlike say Silverstone where there are long straights.

Pagid rs29 are the absolute vote for me, they're not cheap but many classes above the rest. The only pad I believe is above this are the Endless pads, at yet another price range. I've never had them fade on track, and their durability is awesome

So this time round I have decided to select a budget track pad.... EBC Blue Stuff.

Im looking forward to seeing how these measure up under load.

I also decided to get some new discs too although I dont really need them...:innocent:

I would be interested to see how you get on with them Pete, I have used EBC yellows and melted them in less than 2 track days, and so have steered clear since. Good luck!

Yellow stuff described as Medium. Blue stuff as hard according to EBC.

Both have 0 to 500 deg continuous use. Yellow stuff to 650 intermittent. Blue stuff up to 750deg C intermittent.

Probably good enough for OAPs on track:lol:

Only time will tell. They were only £102 delivered so if not up to it then I will return to Porterfields.

Yeah, at a fraction of the cost they're worth a try! I thought I was mad paying the 330 quid for front pads when I bought my pagid rs29, but they were worth the money and have paid for themselves in longevity
