I've just fitted a new gear knob and the gear gaiter doesn't suit the knob.

The ring at the top of the gaiter is too large and sags.

What gaiters have people purchased to tidy up the look?

Cheers.

Its not that the gaiter does not suit the knob its the knob that doesn't suit the gaiter. But there must be some way around it.

Yup - I agree with Gary.... OEM shifter - it's the only way to go.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The OEM knob covers the gaiter which is probably why its a large ring at the top, so it can slide down the shifter.

So another gaiter with a smaller ring, if somebody has one already maybe?

What you could do as a quick fix:

Take off the centre console part while the knob is still attached

Pull the whole thing up and the gaiter inside out

Zip tie the bit of the gaiter, that is falling down, to the shaft.

Trim it off

Then put it back together

The tie should hold the gaiter and stop it falling past the first ring and still look good.

You dont have to use a zip tie, you could you anything just to clamp the gaiter

I had a similar thing. The best solution was to use an OEM knob, which is weighted and actually worked better as well.

This one I have on at the moment is weighted but my OEM is tatty. I spoke to Nissan about a new one and that was £99.

Do people just not realise that there's a trimmer on this forum...?

A master trimmer at that

Who is this trimmer you speak of?

Mondo is retrimming my OEM gear knob + gaiter, handbrake handle + gaiter, centre console lid and OEM steering wheel. Wouldn't have anyone else touch it:thumbup:

Thanks for the reply's guys, I'm not really interested in the retrim option at this moment in time.

Just had a new Nissan gaiter arrive from across the pond which appears to have a smaller ring.
