I was thinking about going to this...probably on the Sunday (dog sitter dependent!)

I know these big general shows are not popular on this forum but I fancy a track session or two round Donington.:thumbup1:

Im just posting in case anyone else was "thinking about it"??? It doesnt matter if nobody else goes im quite used to being the only member at events with a track orientated flavour.

£17 entry and track sessions at £35 doesnt seem too expensive to me.

As there is no 300zx.co.uk or Z club stand you would need to be doing track time to gain entry with your car. Or buy an individual display pass??

Yes mate, I know.

I dont really expect anyone else to attend.

It will be full of young people driving cars quickly round the track......Some might be in little hatchbacks with stickers on them.:scared:

Can you imagine?????:innocent:

So in my usual " billy no mates" mode I went to Donington today.

I had a steady but enjoyable first time ever track session at this iconic track.

Mark Derby from Automodz was on track in the same session in his Focus ST.

I feature on the vid!! We were all given a lesson by Tiff Needell in a Lotus doing passenger rides.

It makes you realize how slow normal track drivers/cars are!!!

There was a decent selection of cars on display, Jap stuff included.

I might post some pics up in a few days. No point now as the forum will be overrun with Simply Jap from Beaulieu stuff atm.

PICS FFS!!

Ill leave you to bask in glory a bit longer. Its just a selection of other stuff at the show that caught my interest.

Well done and well deserved for you and your car at Beaulieu:thumbup:

It is interesting to see the emergence of the 300ZX on the classic car scene.

I get the attraction on shows like Beaulieu for many people.

For my part I got that classic show stuff done and dusted more than a decade ago when I had my blue 240Z.

Nowadays I just want to drive my car to the limits before advancing years put a stop to me doing it.

A few years left in you yet Pete but you must be our oldest racer now so enjoy the tracks mate

LOL!!!

I hope there will be a few more years!!!!:scared:

Thanks for sharing Pete and the 3 door Sierra Cosworth still looks great.

It looks a superb example, doesn't it!

Oh yea I didn't realise at first, I didn't really look properly and assumed it was a hand brake like a rally car. I assume it's to change gear quicker, but will it really make that much difference? Closer to your hand, but the travel must be huge. I suppose if it's got a short throw shifter it might be bearable

And here we have a striped out racer with role cage and door panels removed then they stick the biggest knob in the world in it lol

I wish I understood the thinking behind gearknobs like that, I really do.....

You can keep your hands on the steering wheel and change gear by head butting your knob

It was.

One on my fav cars.

I had a Moonstone one from new in 1986

I pe/xd it for a brand new RS500 in black when they were launched in 1987.

Happy days!

Is this the same show that in years gone by was stuffed full of Saxos with 18" wheels, flamer exhausts and half a boat glued to them? Damn it's changed - for the better by the looks of it apart from a few nasty looking drift wagons.

What build number was yours Pete?

Nice read about them here http://www.rs500cosworth.com/3.html

Whenever i mention t now i get asked about the build number.... but back when they were new it was just a fast Ford. Nobody bothered about details like the build number.

It was scary fast for its time. :scared:

I kept it for just under a year and sold it to a dealer for the same money I paid for it.

A nice deal and free ownership for a year. But worth a hell of a lot now.
