the zed failed mot on emissions cat test.

mentioned the cat exemption as highlighted by Lexx previously. cheers @Lexx

tester had a read up, agreed on the detail, and retested with a pass.

he did try to call them to clarify, but they dont work saturdays.

he will speak and get it clarified for next year though, as he said the software does not allow for it and he didnt know about the exemption details for 92-95 registered vehicles.

That's good news on the pass, i just tell them it's not on the database and have never had a problem.

I do keep my hid dips on all the way to the station and again when i drive it in and leave them on when it's running, never had a problem with them either.

Great news on the pass and i have only ever had one problem with the emissions, when the tester couldnt find it on the system and failed it using 350z emissions allowances  needless to say he had to pass it when pointed out to him and never had an issue since or with the HID's, i guess there are a fair few of inexperienced new testers out there who take every word in the manual as gospel and use their own interpretation when they dont really understand what its telling them

Good news on the MOT pass.

I had to tell my station that I did not have to have headlight washers because I had HID's!

That's good news Craig....

I've never had an issue with the HID upgrade either by the way. I've had both my Zeds tested at the same garage for 10 years (apart from the year my red Zed was done by JeffTT's man after Jeff replaced the rear brake lines) and no-one has ever mentioned the HIDs....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Interesting Lee.....!

...I'd have thought they would only be adding newer cars to the database; not one which went out of production for the UK market 22 years ago; and was sold in such small numbers back in the day!

I don't see how they can add it to the system as there is no data available from the manufacturer to categorise the test. They may have added the 300zx to the database, but I'm fairly sure it'll remain in the same, non-cat test, category.
