Here's an interesting one...

How many of you on here like the 300zx the way it was built, ie stock! or am I the only one that bought one because I think it already looks great!! and Nissan got it just right.

Seems that an awfull lot of owners seem to buy a Zed, start by tearing off all the bits that make it look like a Zed and replace everything with considerably different looking panels, wheels etc.. ending up with something that resembles a Kit-Car!!!

PS, this is just for fun, so please don't take it too seriously or turn it into a war!!

:D :D :D :D

I'm with you on this one Paul, there are some lovely modded zeds around which I'd love to own - but the stock form drew me to the 300zx! Lovely curves, lines, those rear lights (why change them?), those front lights....

I agree with you on the looks but the performance is not how Nissan wanted it. It was restricted heavily by laws.

CAT pipes restrict the breathing, the turbos are only working at 60% of its maximum save performance, the airfilter is paper for economy for the owner.

All these things doing increase the performance but releases the performance which is held back by laws. :D

i have gone down the massivly modded route lol, and i wish i never did, stock would keep me happy. maby a big brake kit and modded suspension is as far as i would have liked to go, except it all went tits up :D

I was lucky enough to have a (family) Sierra Cosworth for 3.5 years from new - the original one (whale fin - showing my age) and pulling in for petrol around 1990/1 and noticing a new UK 300zx at the next pump, and thinking mmmmmm nice. My job took my to Calif and I rode in a couple of US Z-coupes, and decided, perhaps, one day........

The import of a domestic Japanese model made it practical, and here I was owning this icon - however then I discovered Strosek and Paul Bailey styling. So I love the original, and will defend it against all comers, but I love the challenge of a "project" and turning it into something better (personal view).

My ideal would be one stock and one modied, however reality/wife comes into play!!! (But I have my motorbikes - perhaps one day a 2+2, 2+0 and a convertable [TT] as well?).

- A ramble - apologies, it was our Xmas do tonight..........

100% with you on this one. I just wouldn't go round using the phrase kit-car anywhere where Macca or Liberace and others can hear :D

Oh look, Leonardo, can you just widen the frame and change Mona's cape to flip paint - will look luverly.

Except for clear side lights and clear front indicators - of course they are 100% top mods especially on a silver Z which is the best colour.

Cheers - Gio

LOL Gio:D

I always said I kitted my car because I love the way It looks.

If I thought that stock form looked better I would have left it the way it was.

IMHO It's a ten year old car that in total stock form looks a little dated.

I love my kit-car,but I know that some won't;)

If you want to keep your car looking fairly stock there is one thing you must still do

Bin those stock wheels...uurrrggghhh :D

If you bin those terrible stock brakes and go bigger that means now alloys, which means modifying it. :D

But I do think the back of the car looks a little naked without a spoiler.

I think it's difficult not to mod it a little, some things look great as stock I agree about the spoiler though, stock is boring and nice wheels mmm well

I like my exhaust, which is not stock, cos its cute... (woman thing) i love my zed cos it roars:D

I have to admit that the stock Z looks absolutely lovely, but also since belonging to this site and seeing what some people have done to their Z's,I can fully appreciate that as well.

I think that most modded Z's are done really well and certainly makes for a personalised touch.Although I have seen one or two(not on this site, before anyone bites my head off!!)that look very silly indeed.

But at the end of the day we've all paid our hard earned cash for one of these beauties, and what we do is down to us.

I can see from my short time of owning one,how easy it is(funds allowing)to start doing things to enhance your car(looks/performance)and this then becomes almost an obsession.

I know if I had the money then I would definately go down that road, but would try and change the looks subtley.Ah well might win the lottery one day!

Cheers,

F.T.

Driving a 300zx is like making love to a beautiful woman.... or no sorry wrong subject.

Modifying a 300zx can be compared to a beautiful woman. A natural beautiful woman does not need make up as a 300zx doe snot need a face lift. However some women feel naked without it and feel they look better with a little touch up, as some of our 300zx's also do.

However some women wear far too much make up and make themselves look a little less beautiful than they actually are. Some 300zx's do the same.

But at the end of the day not all of these beautiful women have a kind and caring heart and they can be mean and cruel. That's the difference between women and 300zx's. You'll always love the 300zx.

LOL I probably only prefer stock cos I haven't got the money to mod much!!

I'm sure everyone agrees that a great thing about owning this type of car (not that I know!) is the headturning effect and comments. Modifying must increase this.

I do agree with you in principle about women , however zeds let us down ,break down, blow up cost a fortune to repair leak petrol, and god knows what else.... everywhere cost a mint to insure

like women and men a little unpredictable.....

I love driving my zed, its the power(ful) thing with me and I know its not a quiet car, everyone looks.... my zed is beautiful, though needs some work, like me (don't we all):D

Maybe its different for a woman driving dunno, I feel kinda special cos there ain't many of us around

Ajay You're thoughts????

I see women driving little sports cars (usually Mazdas, they are so small, I'm nearly 5 ft 9 with long legs, i need a decent sized car and i love the length and look of the Zed and the S13.... ooh those pop up lights..... oops another thread.....

am i seriously hooked or what, do I need medication???:D

I never imagined i could get so attached to a lump of metal.....

Well I kinda appreciate life after the scares I've had this year:rolleyes:

Sorry chaps went off the point a bit , well its christmas and who cares its the holidays soon:)

A perfect explination :D ..Sometimes you want to drive a lovely untouched example and sometimes a big 'in yer face' modified one like mac or chris's. Thats why you need 2 zeds!!!

Just like you need 2 women, its good to have the nice kind one at home who is good in the kitchen, but sometimes you feel like a dirty Pam Anderson type one with stillettos and lots of red lipstick as well. :D

Paul

Well - I had just done a lengthy reply - and the intenet line disconnected - damn! Well the gist is: mods are down to personal taste - that's what I think. I changed the f/bumper 'cause I think the standard t.t. one is untidy - several diff. materials and layers. The new '99 spec. is cleaner and smoother looking. I'm not mad on rear high spoilers- the look like a boob job gone ott. - sorry mates. (But really I wouldn't object to one - the r/spoiler not the boob job!). The inter. with the tweed is very naff - so I changed that. 'cause to me when your sitting in the car that's what you see - and a brill sports car deserves a stunning inter. Mods to the BHP etc. etc. seem to cause a lot of problems if not done well.

And Emero my wife drives my Zx and is blonde and tall - and it turns heads. But I don't know if it's the zxtt or the wife! And no guys I don't have any pics. not of the wife or even the car.

Tanzx.

Well I have to say that seeing a stock Red Zed on The Bill last night driven by the DCI who is around 50+ was cool as it wasn't a Soup or an RX-Heaven that got that part so fair play.

She wouldn't have looked the same pulling up in mine or Maccas mobile but I still think that stock is pushing the tide of time a bit.

But read above, I still think that any Z looks cool! ;)

a nice kind little woman tied to the sink at home Paul..... what planet are you on??? ROFL

Women are Chameleons, we can be anything and everything, cos we know you men a lot better than you think

By all means if you need two women go ahead, most men can hardly cope with one:D

Yeah but this is Paul G String Super Stud! :D Ask Mrs Turbo ;)

LOL

I love my modded Z but I bought it because it looked stunning as standard.

It turns heads a 1000 times more now but I'm starting to find that a pain already!

Well I need a woman, and I got her.

I don't want another. Never have done never will.

P.S. I've had lunch

I'm only on stock at the moment because I'm getting the mechanicals sorted first.

Not too bothered about modding for horsepower just yet as I think it's quick enough as standard.

Hopefully will be getting some body mods on later this year (on the car not me LOL:D )
