I think one of the best things about this club/forum is that it is full of many wise people who know their stuff about these cars. And it is a forum where everyone can rant and rave in equality with one thing in common - we have a passion for these cars.

I am more than happy to have Jeff and anyone else post about less than good garages/traders/tuners if there is good evidence for the post - especially as I take the advice given on this forum as Bible. if there is a place/person to avoid - I want to know about it. If there is a place/person to go to, again I want to know about it. Part of it is that the Zed, in it's many guises, is a complicated car, and many normal garages/traders/tuners do not have much experience with it - and I want to ensure that when my Zed needs something - it goes to the right place.

Ok here is my two penny worth, I sold my Zed awhile ago but still miss it! If I was ever to buy another I would like to know who in my area (where ever that might be) could I trust to give expert service and advise about my Zed, Jeff was always (and still is) one of the best customer related guys I have ever meet, I would take his advise over most others !

From my personal experience, Jimmer @ PowerZed and from very positive feedback by club members, Lee Dent @ L.A. Autos. Which ever one of those is closest to you would be the specialist I would recommend in "your area" (your area may have to be quite big!).

When I was talking to Will Hinchcliffe about mapping recently, he said they were £250 fitted.

I'm interested to hear how Howard's car has been after his experience with Greg @ Protuner. They are currently top of my hit list. Flat price of approximately £800 regardless of how long it takes to get it right. That's £250 for the Nistune board installed and £550 for the mapping.

Greg at protuner is, in a few words , the best of the best. yes he costs , however, you get what you pay for,

Got the complete ECU, ready to go.......

I got my car mapped by a place near me 360bhp and 400lb/ft.

 

At first I wanted more power but now I've driven it like this for a while it drives really well, and is reliable.

 

Most people I know with high powered tuned cars are constantly fixing them, I much prefer just driving mine now.

Easy to read, imagine a JWT chip with slight adjustments and the eprom tagged to show as Turde Niz and you have it, have looked at many variations and they all have the same theme.

Ok in answer to that you more or less hit it on the head in principle and no bother your words are taken as intended Stephen I get that 100% and respect it fully, but there is a level of naivity here which is screaming out, with case after case after case from said TWO traders who work along side each other and yes one is without doubt my arch nemesis and yes I know A LOT of what is going on that other`s do not.

 

Retirement to me is still been in touch with what is happening and to this end still do plenty of customer referral for old and even new customers who still contact me every week via the private message here, Facebook, e-mails all served by me with tech answers, advise and help, because I love it and helping owners now is great that I have that extra time to put in and at no financial gain to me at all.

 

The 300zx scene is been irreparably damaged by the actions of some and without any intervention it will be doomed to a slow death with the marque`s reputation left in tatters and the values will be effected.

 

My point I guess is the level of complicit activity within a group that frequent here and on Fb etc. yes I have a personal gripe but that is now far out weighed by damage caused by these fools who are in it for the fast buck and nothing else. The psychology of trading or been a trader is complex and often involves a lot of personal sacrifice and support from your family "to go it alone" been able to look back at my near twenty years associated around zeds it was a passion to learn and be involved with what was then a supercar and the owners of those supercars all started on the byword / phrase :

 

Not so much a garage.......... but enthusiasts with FULL workshop facilities!

 

We learned to grow into a business world from the point of an enthusiast not just to make quick cash from the offset!! that is my point, its about personality, and trust, just take a look at the link below from 10+ years ago and tell me the fools I got involved with from Derby have this level of commitment and for sure do not possess an ounce of integrity ( trust me I got well burnt from that ) and that for me is the rub and the point! this is not about me any more its about keeping the Z32 community going because they will kill it off and happily move on to another set of targets.

I'm not 100% sure who your on about bit have a fare idea and I think your out of line (my personal opinion) as I know people who have used enthusiasts garage with a workshop in the past and been extremely unhappy with the work they have had done or rather not done but still never the less been charged for. I think that running a garage is a very difficult thing to do you carnt make everyone happy all of the time and in fairness anyone with half an ounce of common sense would realise that if you want a high powered reliable zed you need to dig deep and min have a full engine rebuild even stock with a few uprated internals and then there is your cooling system and so on I am no mechanic by any stretch but understand if your going to create more power then everything needs to be upgraded if you carnt spend the money keep the car stock. And as for slagging off other members traders I presume, I think that's quite unprofessional as I presume you still class yourself as one, there are always two sides to any story.

Ok well I can see our paths crossed back in April 2014 David and can also see it was at the same time you had been to said trader so guess I can understand your ingenuous position but this thread has nothing to do with been out of order, this thread was written to help maintain some sense into what has been to me a conspicuous attempt at making money with NO comebacks, full of underlying get out clauses, overcharging, cash payments and little or no receipts, add to this the numerous get out of jail cards for said mapper has resulted in more disappointed and out of pocket zed owners than happy ones, his well known side kick (your mate ) is complicit with all of it too :no:

Why of course! but running it morally is just as important, sadly missing in said case (s).

No I am not longer an acting trader as such, and been unprofessional does not come into it, yes I involve myself in my now free time to help and advise, I do though after near 20 years working within the Zed marque of cars feel compelled to protect it from the scurge within the industry who have no long term plan, this is nothing new by the way, there hase been several if not more " zed specialists " over the past 15 years or so that thought they knew best about making money and running, saw every single one off in my time despite efforts to down me!

 

Times are different now, I am on the outside looking in and no longer subject to the constraints of business ownership and the inevitable target that is painted on the back of every self employed person, I will speak up where ever I can on this subject that was a massive part of mine and my families life and it is kind of like my duty!!

Maybe a new thread should be started for members to add solid facts rather than here say and long ingrained personal grudges been held and overlapping in to this I understand you feel it your right to speak out, but this is just coming solely from you maybe other people should be able to speak out and have there say.
