So I recently bought a slicktop that had been left to die and today saw the first few hours of bringing it back to life. I bought it for the missus so she can have her own Z but really it's a big cover up so I can have another Z lol

A good wash on the outside got rid of years of moss and dirt that had collected, we pulled all the interior out to give the carpet a shampoo and damn good hoover then started building it back up. Fitted a dashboard and various trims that were missing, changed the rear centre panel for a better one. Got some VGC standard rear lights going on in the next few days.

Tomorrow I need to sort the front suspension out as the guy I bought it from didn't fit them properly so the strut isn't even sat on anything! Then I can get some wings and a front bumper fitted. After that it's a few body repairs then a wrap, followed by new engine and gearbox time and eventually it'll see the road!

Crikey in the day I saw off many breakers in far better condition than that!! but times are changes as zeds get rarer I guess, good luck feller.

Jeff

Well Feck me!! The word "die" is even hard to use on that. Totally agree with Jeff, I've seen them in breakers at better shape lol

I had a couple of them in the same color. It was a 99 spec.

Great to see more pics Baz of this great find, don't like you changing it's colour though and what a great cover story :sneaky2:.

Is there a space saver under all that orange and passion fruit smoothie, looks like you need to pull the plug .

Yeah totally agree, don't change the color.....ill find the pics of the silver/grey Z's I had and post them up. It's beautiful in cleaned up condition,

IT doesn't have the version-s interior like on mine.

There was also an earlier version S without the seats in red. Very nice car there, was it once for sale in Derry or thereabouts?

More progress today and it's starting to look like a Z again

And before the wheel police come after me they are only temporary so I couldn't care less if they are muddled up :tt2:

What did you do to the suspension??

The guy I bought it off removed some coilovers and fitted some standard suspension struts, well when I say fitted I mean bolted the top but didn't locate the bottom of the struts at all so they were resting on nothing! So I fitted it up how it's supposed to be with some bilsteins that I had. It looks a bit high at the front but don't forget there's no engine or box in it to weigh it down.

What is the fate of the yellow spares?

One of the tyres is a mess and the other one is already spoken for by another member, I do have a couple more if you needed one?

Of course, I completely forgot...

Keep the wheels the original Baz. I think they are the best. If possible, U.K. Wheels on the rear as you get that slightly wider type. I still have a set here waiting for the right car to come my way again.

I had bilstiens before my Tiens they provided a good enough drop and good handling without being harsh. I'd recommend them again. I only switched them out because I wanted the car lower. There was about a 20/30mm gap between tyre and arch I wanted to close.

Great work there Baz:thumbup:, you don't hang around, do you, knowing you it'll probably be driving next weekend

I need 3 actually. I have an idea. Tyres are not an issue for me as they will be changed.

Also how did a slicktop get like this in the first place
