I vaguely recollect someone in the UK either wiring up, or suggesting to wire up their door handles to some high voltage, low current supply. It may have been in response to the South African documentary that showed the anti-carjacking flamethrowers. Needless to say it is bound to be illegal here.

 

Aside from that I'd be scared witless to get in the car. How do you know that the thing has been disabled ? We all know that car alarms can be a bit temperamental !!

Plus which, how do you know that those arcs of electricity won't leap to your radio, your handsfree kit, your dash or even your electric, heated seats? All you need to do is sit down before grasping said Taser and it will earth itself through any means it can. Electron field block or not.

 

Besides which I get shocks from shopping trolleys, people and some cars anyway. So far, my Zed is the only car that has never shocked me, so it is fairly well earthed already and to be honest, I want to keep it that way.

 

Arcs of electricity in the interior of my car is uh....interesting, but I would want intelligent electricity that worked on fingerprints or something. Oh - you're not supposed to be driving me - ZAP!

You'd never get away with this in the UK, this is where it's ok to hunt foxes and kill dumb animals but if you should accidently mame or kill someone breaking into your own home...LIFE and think yourself lucky that we don't have electric chairs!

something like this _is_ somehow legal in the UK, I remember seeing the adverts in max power (it was a mates.. honest guv) a while ago.

 

... used to have a taser when I was in the states... class things. I recommend buying one if your there on holiday for about a tenner.. and pepper spray... I have the pepper spray and my baseball bat beside the bed at all times in case someone breaks in to house or car....

A little story about a guy in South Africa. Fed up with constantly having his car nicked or hijacked he put a bottle of booze in the glove box. It wasn't pure though, it had a little chemical addition in the way of Cyanide. He gets hijacked and doesn't resist. A couple of miles down the road one fairly new merc on the side of the road with two dead occupants.

 

He gets taken to court, prosecuted and found guilty for pre-meditated murder or whatever they call it in SA.

 

Maybe we should try something similar but a little less drastic, just a thought!!!
