Hi guys, posted this on Jimmer's Powerzed page, Jimmer's more than likely busy working, so I said I'd see what you guys think:innocent: what do you guys recommend to replace the 25 year old fuel pump?? I'm going to be running 550 injectors, GT525 turbos, Greddy intercoolers, Selin Dual maff and a full 3" turbo back system.

CZP have a variety of pumps, so wanted to make sure I got the best one for my mods:thumbup1:

the walbro 320lph pump was a step up previously. ill be putting that into mine when i go for 555cc injectors.

What HP are you running? I know the MCM guys had a problem with fueling with their VH at about 450hp, but perhaps it was because they were using ethanol, so more fuel was needed.

WALBRO 320lp to 450lp will be more than enough for your needs

just make sure you buy from good known places are there are lot of fakes around

Im not running my Eaton yet so i have no need for the pump, however i will when i fit it. others have had power from 450-480 ish but id be happy with the noise :)

Was or has always been a popular choice as far as I'm aware. I have one of the AEM pumps that Noel was selling last year and it seems ok so far.

Pretty sure the OEM pump is the best choice unless your going north of 550-600hp. Twin walbro pumps seem popular after this.

Yeah, but at twice the price of the Walbro, AEM etc. I would be happy to purchase one if they were even close to the aftermarket ones:yes: I might give the guys at my local dealers a shout anyway as they have been extremely competetive for the fan shroud etc. and they're happy to order in parts for me to pay off in installments:thumbup1:. I'll let you know what they say:thumbup1:

Just looking at those comments from Nos etc, Errol also mentioned about talking to Jimmer regarding upgrading for the 550 injectors and GT525's

There are so many component factors here, ideally you'd want to replace all of them if it was finically viable. Whilst changing the heart, fuel pump, for new is great practice. I would personally if it's all presently working, (have you tested?) invest that money in a safe guard against failure of all components. An item like AEMs fail safe which measures AFR constantly and can cut boost or timing to stop detonation before you've had time to register its even occuring. Prevention is better than cure but proper insurance is golden.

What should I be looking for regarding AEM stuff Steve??

I personally prefer to swap pumps out now as a new item is very cheap to buy and for the hour or so it takes to fit its a quick job and saves any future issues,Full on pump failure is rare if im honest, but after a build or any performance mods,a phrase using the words ship and tar spring to mind.AEM units are good for the money as are walbro,Bosch are very good but can be expensive. The stock unit is very capable but at 25years old its done millions of revolutions !!

Personally I'm going to use an AEM fail safe, I believe BigH has two, one for each bank.

I certainly do Stephen, they are a great piece of kit although not cheap when having to buy two of them. But a damn sight cheaper than having an engine rebuild :whistling:

FYI I am running a AEM 320LPH pump

So which would you use personally or which would you fit to my car?? Should I get a brand new OEM or AEM 320lph or Walbro 320/450lph ??

I went for the AEM 320lph, Nick at CZP reckons they're a good bit of kit:thumbup1:

I think ultimately, the 3 options Jimmer and others have mentioned are good (Walbro, AEM and Bosch/OEM/Stock). It'll be good to see what he'd recommend/suggest though. May well just be a preference and cost thing.

Just noticed Deautchworkz do pumps as well

I'd stick with the main ones bud, AEM, WALBRO, BOSCH or OEM as Jimmer has said, why chance anything else?? My AEM 320lph is priced at $102 (€89) plus shipping, but as I'm ordering other parts as well the shipping is going to be negligible:thumbup1: How much are the Dworkz??

  • Author

Just seen, the Dworkz are $169 (€150) from CZP, so they're nearly twice the price and flow 20lph less, add to the fact that they are relatively new and untested maybe, or have little "real world" feedback???. Just my opinion
