Always when your in a hurry.

So some of you may recall me showing how i was going to utilise the LHD oil pressure sender hole to mount the oil temp sender. I even messed about and checked that it all fitted on the bench with a spare I oil tree had. That went smoothly. Today I grabbed a spare hour and attempted to fit the sender. This happened;

Initially I thought, shit, damn, **** and further expletives. I know how much of a nightmare removing the tree is. So in my thought train I looked at the tree. It seems this block has a funny little bracket in the way, it's a hook type thing, right in the bloody way of one of the bolts. So that is a no go. After I calmed down I realised, actually how much of an issue is this. Effectively I've just fitted another bung, just one that cannot be removed. Obviously it was tight or it wouldn't of sheared, I also used a dab of RTV. So a seal should of been made.

So other than disabling the hole, it's unlikely to of caused an issue. Just a case of fire it up and see if it's sealed, which logically it should be right? Bloody thing won't start now though, probably because it's 2ft off the ground at the front and it was nearly empty of fuel. Hopefully that's just a simple problem.

Oh stuff like this is annoying isn't it.

Steve they are better screwed in using plumbers tape mate as a lot of NPT are on a taperd thread anyway going tighter as they screw in..that would of leaked using a copper washer so maybe a blessing in disgiuse:wink:

The washer was just belt and braces really. I was relying on the RTV to make it a perfect seal. But yeah point taken. It's my fault I was rushing, we all know what it's like trying to steal an hour here or there round family.

Do you agree with my theory though that it shouldn't actually cause an issue.

10L of fuel in. Still won't start, just cranks and cranks but never catches. FFS! I'm starting to worry that the sensor blocked the oil way and that's why. Surely even with Zero oil pressure it should still start?

you are correct..should still start. and in future keep any form of sealant out of a tube away from the oil circut, but i know you know that already:wink:

Yeah it's not an issue. Just gotta be mindful.

Lost as to why it doesn't bloody start.

> starting to worry that the sensor blocked the oil way and that's why.

the non starting has nothing to do with the broken off oil sensor. Even if it would block something..

Start at the basics, do you have fuel and spark ? check/wiggle CAS and PTU connectors...or maybe the immobilizer is acting up ? (if you have one in your car)

You are right. I'm snow blinding myself because before I did that it worked but that was a week or so ago. I had a quick look this evening with a spare 10 minutes and I have no spark and no fuel pressure. I'm guessing by this coincidence that both have an issue it's likely the immobiliser.

Right it's a Sigma S Series with a toad immobiliser. I don't want to go ripping things out and doing unnecessary work, for obvious reasons. I assume the immobiliser has a 12v supply, a ground then inhibits one or more circuits. So simply linking out the cut circuits should render the thing useless.

I really can't be doing with this crap. Car does my head in. The temptation to sell it is growing more and more these days. Just go round and round fixing one thing and other things fall out the sky at random.

They are normally quite easy to workout with a bit of time. I guess it helps that I used to fit them so I kind of know what to look for.

I'm sure il be able to trace it all about given enough time. But that's the biggest problem is time, and motivation. I really can't be bothered, I just want to drive it.

Once I found the bloody thing. Cheers for your help mate. It's throwing up, or was throwing up code 34 and 42, Dett sensor harness and fuel tempreture.

I would think they will be in the history as the connection was loose
