Hi chaps, I've bought a replacement thermostat but it looks a little different in that it doesn't have the bottom bit. It's Manufacturer is Vernet;

Will this be an issue? Thanks!

Its 76c opening temp. Got it from eurocarparts and they had the engine code (VG30D) going off my number plate.

I bought a volvo fuel fillter from them which the whole batch had been wrongly boxed!

So check & why not get one from Nissan?

If you want a second hand , ( but working one ) then I have said item, Personally I would not use it , and would ONLY fit the correct part and new at that, Anything else mate is a false economy of cost , and or Time.

Well that goes without saying, and I am under the impression it is a new and correct part according to their site. I think I will fit it and keep my eye on the flow on the bottom hose

Ordered a Nissan genuine £39 inc vat.. for real? That's an expensive thermostat :saddam:

For a genuine part? Not at all! One of the few things for the Z32 that doesn't cost the earth.

Yes the Nissan price is eye watering !!!

Seems Eurocarparts listing is slightly off but not as simple as you may think, the stat they sold you is for an RB engine as fitted to a 1982 to 1985 Nissan Skyline.

Looking at a genuine RB engine stat you can see how its is looks the same as the one you got from Eurocarparts including the rubber seal, that the Zed one does not use.

However I crossed checked engine types and the RB series and VGD VGDE and VGDTT range do have some part`s crossovers showing and oddly the thermostat is one of them, this I believe is a mistake and it was not Nissan that thought this way and it is just after market listings error which has crept in the system, this happens a lot when spurious or be it non genuine parts are sourced as the manufacturer of non genuine parts rarely have the original spec. sheet and so basically will go through what they know looking for similar fittings and those "similar" aspects can lead to mistakes.

Best to stick with the Nissan fitment, a bad stat can loose you the engine if it goes wrong !!

Jeff, that's an awesome response. I will take it up with Eurocarparts. I did wonder why they had all the correct information, but seemingly wrong stat.

Thanks Jeff, and all. I live and learn! You just don't compromise on quality, I know that. I have always bought either genuine or next best quality. To be honest, I didn't know Nissan did their own thermostat. Thanks again chaps
