Hi all

I finally did it and purchased "rusty sills" black manual 300zx TT

Mechanicals all done by Automodz so just needs interior / exterior tidying.

I am sure I will have lots of questions in the coming weeks and look forward to learning more about the 300zx TT

Thx

I'm not that mechanically minded if I'm honest and struggled to find someone to work on them locally. 1st gave me no issues but the 2nd was a little niggly and as a daily was a bit of a pain....one of the reasons I was trying to sell before the girlfriend wrote it off!

Was nearly 10 years ago so would want to be more hands on this time round if need be. Any pics of your new car?

Hopefully give it wash this weekend and post a few pics....I was actually looking for a CRX VTEC for some fun and stumbled on to the 300zx....so I thought i would try one out until i find a CRX

So far first impressions ....its a rocket ship that travels at hyper speed.

I am not used to driving this fast so need to keep my right foot very light ...for now

I was looking for a crx for my first car, fortunately the 300zx was cheaper, so it was a no brainer

The 300zx prices have climbed up above the CRX VTEC now...I was looking at a 26,000 mile VTEC UK car with full history for £6k but by the time i made my mind up to view it (Birmingham - so about 1.5hrs away) ....it was sold !!!

If another one comes up I may decide to sell and then I would have tried both...unless the 300ZX bug bites :-)

Same here, always wanted one. I don't think I would go for one now though - my Z feels too slow lately!

If you don't mean the del sol ones (which I hate), you cannot get them cheaply anymore. The cheapest one (after a quick google) is £2500, and to think i bought my Z with twin turbos for less than that, and drove it home...

If you are comparing Mint spec ones that might differ, idk, but for my price range I simply couldn't find one for the price I could find Zs for.

Definitely not del sol ones....those are just for posers. Its the 4 seater bullet shaped ones with a squared off back.

Hi and welcome Chas!

It's great to see another local member too - I lived in Chalfont St Peter for a few years, before moving to Great Missenden, where I currently reside. Oh, and I work in Uxbridge...

So you're just down the road from me.... Feel free to drop me a line if you need any help, advice; or just fancy meeting for a coffee and a Z-chat:cool:

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yeah, my guess is that their rarity bumps the price up. Never the less they are cool cars.

Hi Richard, your still only a short blast down the A40, more in the countryside now :1eye:

I am not very mechanical but willing to have a go at some of the simpler jobs to keep the running costs low. thanks for the offer for help and advice ...I will need it. I am just saving my questions up as i get familiar with the squeaks, rattles in the car !

I used to work in Uxbridge as well !! for Pizza Express.

So i am guessing you either work for Coke or Unisys ? in Uxb

I normally work from home on a Friday, so pop over if you fancy a free coffee in exchange for ZX info, tips and tricks

LOL - no, neither mate! I work for a privately owned construction company, on the Oxford Road, right opposite the drive-in McShite-place..

But it certainly would be good to meet up sometime, there aren't many local Z-owners to us!!

Crx was not bullet shaped, it looked more like a shoe shape. Not that I'm slating the crx as I've always loved these cars and would still consider buying one alond with the Toyota ae86.

You certainly have great taste I cars crx , ae86 and of course the 300zx !!

I saw a ae86 for sale about 5 months ago and had never heard of it before. It was on pistonheads and had a great write up because someone had shove a v8 in to it. Definitely a discreet performance car.

So little time and sooo many cars to try :-)
