I've owned 2 Zeds about 10 years ago back when frankly couldn't really afford/appreciate them.

Originally bought an auto TT SWB but sold it due to being skint. Probably the better of the 2 and regret selling that.

Then bought a manual TT LWB a few months later but this one my girlfriend (now wife!) crashed coming off a roundabout...though was trying to sell it at the time. Had a few niggles with this and was a daily so was a hit and miss relationship.

Now, several years later and more settled am really contemplating getting a 3rd. If I had a garage would be a cert but I don't so might have to replace my daily due to drive space....though would probably keep both for a while and see how it goes.

The thing I struggled with last time was lack of local mechanics wanting to work on them so my current ideal plan would be a solid body with buggered engine. Then have a fresh rebuild from Jimmer which seems as good as guaranteeing reliability as anything. Second option is a fresh import as been some great examples popping up from the site traders!

Anyway, am keeping an eye out. Would be great to get one for the summer as have some good memories from last time round. Am happy with LWB or SWB and would prefer a manual but actually enjoyed the auto so not set against...will see what pops up!!

What's your budget?

You can get ones that need work for £1000-3500 and then much better examples for around £4500-6500

If you really want a minter, gazwoz has a perfect Z, completely clean, probably the cleanest in the club just imported from Japan for £9200 http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?184462-Finally-The-1990-Silver-TT-Manual-with-just-18-000-miles-on-the-clock-is-for-sale!!

Oh and welcome back :)

Cheers both, need to research rebuild costs etc so haven't got a budget as such yet. Not really after a full on restoration project, so am prepared to spend a reasonable amount for the right one, though as lovely as that import is, would say is out of my price range.

Yeah, it's been niggling ever since so have always kept an eye on the forum over the years...helps my wife has always had a soft spot for them!

Good luck with the search mate, your story is similar to my own, owned a zed when I couldn't really afford it years ago, so I sold it, grew up a fair bit over the next few years and got that zed itch a while back and bought my current zed. It's not a daily, kept garaged, and gets all the maintenance and love she deserves.

Yup, that's it. Back in my younger days I was sticking budget Marshall tyres on etc. Would love a garage as would make life easier but hey ho.

Welcome back mate and you will find there is less Z's out there for sale these days but good luck with your search.

Back in the day there were loads available for not much money. Its not the best timing in all honesty as just had twins so the wife is off on maternity but in a year or so could be even harder to find the right one.

Same as ne, sold my last Z fifteen years ago, in my sixties now and just bought another one, retired now so it won't cover many miles.
