I'm curious what peoples opinions on what rating plugs one should have. My car is circa 580 - 600hp engine) and I currently use a heat rating of 8 for the plugs. Do you lot think this is about right would would 7's be a better option perhaps?

Interesting info here from NGK themselves rather than pub talk>>

So running the engine through different road conditions and then removing the plugs for analysis will give you the real time answer for your engine rather than guessing or using unqualified opinion`s, as every engine is different it may be a case of trying options to see what gives the best result for you.

Maybe yeah but that was a few years back and the plugs were new in when it was mapped so I doubt they'd show any issues of fouling that quick and on a dyno.

I'll have to take a couple out and see how they look.

It will be interesting to hear what folk make of the colouration.

Personally they look a little lean/hot in my opinion, maybe just the trick of the light.

I would prefer to see a little more colour on them.

Look pretty good to me too. Bit of carbonation on the outside, electrodes not damaged or pitted. Be interested to hear learned opinions but I'd be happy with that myself.

They look good to me to. The electrode looks a little lean but it's been mapped for optimum performance so I would say it will look different from a plug running a standard map.

Thing is, 7's might be a little cleaner and better maybe. Might just need to stick some in and give them a try

Just thought Id give a quick update on this.

So, I decided to put in my previous spark plugs which are 7's. Straight away, the car seemed better so I've ran them for a around a month and a half to see how they go and all's seemed good so I whipped one out today and looks what I'd say as normal.
