Does any one have the fuel pipe that goes from the fuel filter to the black metal pipe on the plenum?

Do you specifically want the OEM one? A length of regular high pressure fuel hose that long would only cost a couple of quid. 8mm is what you need

I bought some crap aftermarket braided stuff and a few days ago it sprung a leak !!

Luckily only shuffling on the drive so i'm in the same boat and i want oe, there's a breaker near me and hope it's all still on for when i visit this week.

I want to grab 4 pieces ideally and yes i do know 8mm id hose would be cheaper/easier.

Metal braided? Where did you get it from?

Yes stainless steel overbraid but the nitrile rubber inside was not reinforced, bought cheap i guess and got rubbish !!

Ebay for your 2nd question, it was about a meter i purchased and i cut and put on the supplied end caps.

Noted cheers.

The herring bone style of overbraid, does it provide much protection against abrasion?

That is one of it's apparent selling points but i got it for aesthetic reasons but i want the oe now - things/ideas change !!

I'll put my little update here, i did remove from the breaker on Monday the four fuel hoses, wasn't easy but i managed it without damaging anything.

I migrated over and on a test drive today and luckily on arriving home, the smallest one, top left, sprung a leak, so as a matter of caution i bought a 1 meter length of new stuff for the grand total of £3.00, of course 8mm id and taking a sample of the sheath with me, it fits very snugly inside.

The pipe bought from the breakers was from an 1989 car and with one failing - piece of mind will be mine when i cut and fit all new tomorrow, of course i'll still use the sheath i acquired.

Even better for the purist to get even more excited...........i carefully pocketed and used all the oem fuel clamps when i re fit.

I fit my pipe today and some things i want to log.

All the 3 sheaths are not all the same size  don't ask me which is which, all i do know is i took the larger of what i had as a sample when i bought my pipe and of course tested and it slid in lovely.

Come to slide my new pipe into the bendy sheaths - absolutely no chance !!!

I measured my new pipe and i have bought quality and with it piece of mind.......it's 8mm id but the od is actually 15mm, so nice thick walls better than oem 14mm.

Call me what you like, i did still want the outer sheath on although i was careful when cutting to length, etc, not to have chaffing points, the only way was to slice and hide this 'cut' on the underside :sneaky2:.

Some of the eagle eyed out there might notice i put a piece of sheath on that filter inlet pipe, just love making work for myself, all that leaves me now is to furnish this post with a picture .

If you want a quality fuel line thats stainless braided... These guys do all the plant and hydraulic hoses round my way and they can make up fittings and lines to fit virtually anything.....

They have helped me with replacing all my hydraulic lines, fuel lines, etc....

Good quality products as they need to be for the heavy plant machinery they deal with...

Unless you're going to have AN fittings on your hard lines, pressure regulator and filter, having braided lines is a bit of a misnomer as you'll still need rubber inserts and hose clips. I never understood the point of the great big ugly things that ZCentre sell for example; apart from their questionable appearance, it isn't easy to spot a fuel line leak if it's covered in braid.

True braided lines are great with AN fittings as they'll have nylon inners and are much smaller and tougher. :)

I wasn't totally taken with the recently acquired (mine as never had this fitted) oe fuel sheath, not sure the years have been too kind as it was brittle.

The catalyst for me was this pipe right up against and rubbing on the brake fluid cap, causing visible abrasion.....another 100,000 mile and it would of been through :whistling:.

So as you can see i came across some cable tidy wrap and thought i'd give it a go and do you know it does it's job.

And on the fuel hoses - i quite like it .

I'd seriously just stump up for new ones dude. I've just ordered an OEM set from Z1 with brand new OEM clips. If I can get my old ones off in one piece, then you're welcome to them. They're not split. Personally though, something as critical as fuel and hoses - I'd buy new.
