OK, so apparently my fog light wasn't working today for the MOT, so the garage tried to fix this by checking the wiring. The wiring seems OK, so I said I would bring it home and check all the fuses. Have done that and still can't fathom what is wrong. Now I have no side lights. Have checked the appropriate fuse and it is fine so I am a little perplexed. No sides, no fog, but yet have mains. Any thoughts?

check the control pod just incase the plug is not fully connected

Main lights work ( main beam ) as a default even when side lights fuse has blown, check again driver`s foot well fuses top row third from left a red 10 amp one, just change it anyway for a known good one in case it has gone high resistance.

Check switch for fog ... It used to play up sometimes

If your fog light switch picks up it's 'live' from the sidelights then that'll be the reason the fog doesn't work.

Checked side light fuse and all fuses, that's always where I start. Will pull the pod off and check the wiring. I know the fog ground is to the body, as it's near the fuse box, but where it picks up the live, that's an unknown. if the live is to the sidelights, then where is a better location to splice into?

OK I have removed the pod and found fog attached to the side light wiring. So, I have completely removed it and tidied up the wiring.

So, forgetting the fog light, I still have no side lights at all. It seems there is no power in the wiring harness that goes to the pod connector. The middle connector has power as the rear windscreen heater has power and comes on.

I have replaced the sidelight 10A fuse and double checked all the fuses in that lower foot-well fuse box - they all appear fine. So, with no side lights, main beam only, something else has to have blown. But what?

I'm afraid it's shouting out fuse to me still Greg........you state all appear fine but it should just be the middle 10amp on the top row as Jeff as said.

 

Other than that it's a puzzler :confused1:.

Nothing wrong with connecting to the sidelight circuit, in fact that is where mine splices, it just means the fog can only come on when you've got your sidelights on.

 

There are alternatives, ignition live, low beam, etc, but why ?

Top row fuse, should be a battery live, so check to be sure there is no fuse board issue, it the one marked clearance illumination.

Thanks Jeff. Have got on my back and checked all the fuse connections/looms and all seems OK. Have also got no indicators also, no clicking sound also. It's weird as the car starts no issue. What about the TCU? I recall replacing it a while back when my dash had issues. It's got me stumped! And it's likely to be something really simple!

There's not some in line fuse behind the dash causing head aches is there? I hate stuff like this, very frustrating. You know how it is though, it will be something stupid.

The indicator`s not working could because the hazzard switch on the pod has not gone back to the correct position.

There are no loom fuses under the dash for the lights, you need to check for power at the fuse with a test meter, if no power there then it could be a fusebox issue.
