Why?

No stand at Japfest 2, no stand or arrangements for jae, the only event I can see for here is the agm..

I've been a member for a year and there's been 2 events I've been aware of where any volume of people have attended. I like the club, I like the members, yes even you Si! Lol.. Just want to get out to shows and meetings etc instead of sitting around at weekends. Theres not really anyone I've found up for meetings locally apart from bedzee.

I'm getting very bored!

Can't find anywhere else to ask this, but what's happening about JAE this year?

The question was asked here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?183662-Jae-2016-poll&highlight=jae

33 members voted and 27 said no to JAE. Out of the six that said yes you would of got may be 3 or 4 turn up on the day/ weekend. So for the club to spend a few thousand pounds for a plot, marquee,BBQ,food, tables, chairs and power would be a wast of club funds.

Instead we are having our own weekend at Coventry Transport Museum where more members would turn up and we could hold a club AGM.

We have no NEO to organize any other big show so we rely on our REO's to organize regional events.

Gaz, I know exactly what you are saying but this is my point! These events are made by the club members making the effort to actually attend events!

Why is this club so negative when it comes to events? So other than the Japfest and the agm, what else is there to look forward to event wise?

The club committee aren't to blame for the lack of willing members attending, it's the members themselves that are letting the club down. I understand people have work commitments and family ones too, but i can't see the point in having a club that doesn't make the effort to meet?

This club is full of very nice, like minded people. People that if the effort was made to attend meetings, would make a day out or weekend camping, a bloody great time.

For those that said jae wasnt a good event, I'm confused? I had a great time on the Friday alone, was welcomed by all, had some great conversations with everyone. Dutchgolds group were an absolute riot and had a good chat with our lighting guru phutumsch..

The forum is a great place to chat and talk Z remotely, but friends are made and good times had in a face to face environment aren't they?

I don't know how most of the club feel about the lack of events, but I'm hoping that by airing my opinion, the usual buzz of the hornets nest will take hold and maybe, we could get a little enthusiasm going for some good club knees ups!

Does anyone else feel like we need a bit of a fun injection here? The current bun is starting to dose us up with a bit of warmth and the opportunity to have some good memorable times is here..

C'mon people, like the song lyrics... Let's get together?!

Theres a retro meet in MK every third friday if your into a mixed scene. I go, wont be in the zed this time though.

Thanks for that sparks, I've known about those meets for a while.. Ive been told it's full of rowdy youngsters though, although I should go and see for myself..

Only problem is that I work nights permanently and that includes every Friday!

As much as I'd love to go, I'd have to book holidays for it and I don't get many of those as it is..

Thanks for the heads up though mate. It's appreciated..

We have no NEO to organize any other big show so we rely on our REO's to organize regional events.

This......^^

The reason we put it to a vote this year, was because the organisers of JAE decided to hike up the prices way above that of previous years. Consequently we had concerns as to whether our members would stump up the extra cash for JAE; as if they would not, it would mean our usual main event would go unattended....

Hence after the results of the vote, we decided to put on another "Coventry" and make that the club's major event. As for other events throughout the year, there are regional events organisers. It is their job, along with input from the members in their areas, to identify and organise smaller club stands at those events. Another real success in recent years has been Simply Japanese at Beaulieu. Thanks to the sterling efforts of the SW and SC REOs (I'm looking at Stephen and Si), the club has quite a big presence and it attracts members from outside those areas.

If you have some ideas as to what you thing would prove a successful meet/event, then please do contact the REO for your area and see what can be done!

Think Kevin Costner in Field of Dreams....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

You're a bit too far for out Bluewater meets, but why don't you (collectively) arrange meets for Zs in your area, monthly/every two to catch up on what you've done and enjoy a chat :)

I am going to as many as I can justify this year to get to know everyone and have a good time (Coventry, Simply Jap, Osty's one, maybe JAE who knows) but I couldn't attend Japfest as the of exams and car not ready.

Don't give up hope yet, i'm sure we'd appreciate any suggestions of any meets coming up from anyone and everyone.

I'd say there are plenty of events especially considering the low ownership numbers and the fact that there's no NEO, I think if you want super busy events lists then maybe you should consider another platform or a multi-type club. The Z32 scene in the UK is extremely small compared to almost all other performance marque or model specific clubs.

Moaning about how much the events list sucks isn't going to help bolster enthusiasm from the remainder of the ownership.

If I believed that I could rely on enough people willing to go to events, I would offer to fill the NEO shoes.

But I don't suppose I've been a member long enough to be considered for it anyway..

I'm just feeling quite frustrated at the lack of events. As I said, even local meetings with other members would be good, but either I don't find out about things until it's too late or there's simply nothing on..

I'm in a bit of a Bermuda triangle of regions too so knowing where to look for meetings is sometimes made difficult..

The funny thing being that even the thought of joining a second club is OK, but I'd rather get to know the people here better and have some fun with our lot.

I'm looking forward to the Coventry meeting but very disappointed about JAE.

I do understand the price hike issue though. Maybe others will turn away from jae for the same reason and it might make them a little less greedy..

It's all a little depressing for me!

I think you think the club is actually bigger than it really is. We are a VERY small club with quite a small membership, it isn't what it was say, 10 years ago where membership was 3 or 4 times of what it is today. It has nothing to do with members not being bothered, it's the fact that we don't have the membership base to hold many many events and monthly meetings.

If I believed that I could rely on enough people willing to go to events, I would offer to fill the NEO shoes.

In my opinion regarding local meets this is where you have a prime opportunity to step in. The SE had nothing on until when I joined collectively got everyone's act together to join in, if I bump the thread and sorted everything out, nothing would have come of it. That's my opinion anyway.

Also as far as I'm aware anyone can make an application for the NEO role, if you think you have the time and organisation to fill in such, you could make a difference.

I'm not having a dig at you, just to make you realise the potential of meets doesn't happen on its own.

Si, I'm not looking for loads of events mate.. to be honest, i was looking forward to jae this year mainly down to the fact that I had a good craic with everyone there last year.

I enjoyed it and I met a lot of members there.

I'd hoped to be able to attend the whole weekend this year as I only got the opportunity to stay one day last year so missed out.

The point in making the comments or MOANING as you put it, is that it creates a conversation for people to wind their necks out and talk about it! Nothing negative about it Si.

It's a conversation starter that might pave the way for people to air their opinions and maybe make an improvement for everyone..

What can I say? It's been a disappointment to find out that two major events we won't have a stand.. So shoot me... :gun_bandana:

You have been negative I'm afraid. 'The events list sucks' is nothing BUT negative.

Events change, things change. JAE doesn't appeal to me personally in the slightest, however there are other things going on, Coventry for example - this is new, there's likely to be more Z32 owners here than at anything else.

Focus on the positives rather than saying that it all sucks and how disappointed you are all the time.

:)

See, I'm thinking about the club and it's members aswell as myself Si.. I'd like to try and help bring people together, my aim isn't to be negative...

You shouldn't have done that... just because you are mad you have spoiled a hugely anticipated and secretive project for the sake of nothing...

My advice, whether you take it or not would be to create a new thread, encouraging people to suggest meets they've heard about to impose club presence. We need solutions, not complaints.

Also remove that post and don't spoil it for everyone....

Simply Jap isn't far away either, with from what I can tell a decent number interested

The one thing I can rely on is someone to point out the only negative I've pointed out!

Yes, saying that " the events side of things here is starting to suck" is the only negative I've said!

The parts where I mentioned how nice the members of the club are and that we need to make an effort to meet up doesn't come across as negative to me.. The point that the forum is great for technical info and a good laugh isn't negative either. I'm not being negative, I'm simply stating my disappointment in the lack of members getting together for the larger events. Places where we could have a good time together and maybe, just maybe get to know eachother a lot better and form some good friendships.

I am not in any way trying to put people down, in fact quite the opposite. I'm trying to muster a bit of enthusiasm and inject a little fun.

I think people take me and what I say the wrong way, maybe it's the way I word things or maybe my difference of opinion sometimes just makes people dislike me.. Whatever it is, my intentions are good, people who really know me, would tell you I'm a very kind, caring and generous person.

Unfortunately, sometimes things I say are taken in the wrong way..

Anyway, i give up stressing about it now.. Take what I said however you please.

Its good to talk Paul and yes we should have more big events. It takes a lot of time and organizing of these events and the Committee have two big shows this year (Coventry and the NEC) The REO's doing the others. Show wise we could do better but we need all the help we can get for them to work so lets build on what we have and see how well they are attended. Plus at the AGM we will have a chance to talk about shows face to face with out all this typing. :)

Considering how passionate he is about this subject, I suggest making Paul the NEO for the club. :thumbup1:

We need one. Vodkashots has dropped off the face of the Earth now, and Lexx just doesn't really have the time due to work and family commitments.

So Paul: 1 vote from me.

:)

Big shoes to fill were a lot of work and commitment is needed.

I will second that vote. Paul gets a vote from me too for NEO. I have met Paul on a couple of meets and can vouch for his passion for the Zed and his determination for all to have a good time, enjoy their cars and do the best by the club. His single mindedness can come across but that's a good thing, he will get things done. Paul genuinely cares and will go out of his way for others and the club. He is a practicable, knowledgeable guy with a big heart.

Big shoes to fill were a lot of work and commitment is needed.

I know, Gaz. Whilst I'm not hugely familiar with VS's stint as NEO, I think Lexx is a sad loss to the role but I can perfectly understand why he needed to step down.

Personally, I think an NEO should really want to try and get a Z32 presence at as many shows (especially big ones) as possible - it's the single best way to generate awareness and interest in these cars. Facebook may have it's uses but the "general public" won't see the Zed-related posts unless they're friends with the OP or in one of the groups.

Simply by what he's typed recently, Paul's shown that he wants to get these cars out there and into the public eye. Which is half the battle. :)

I think it's worth giving him the chance (if he wants it, of course)... it's certainly better than not having one at all. :thumbup1:

I'm not sure if I'd be the right person to fill those boots, but I'd give it a bloody good try..

One thing is clear, we need someone on neo. A combined effort with all the REO's aswell.. Like you say gaz, it's good to talk.

We can talk it over at the agm and see where it leads..

One thing is certainly true that's been said here, I'd like to put the Z back on the map and whilst doing so, make some good friendships and have a good time!

God only knows everyone needs it on occasion..

From your enthusiasm to want people at events, I think you'd give it a good go too
