That is probably fair to say - although it is also certainly true that the Z32 can still acquit itself so well after 20-odd years!

And I hate to say it, but I'd reckon my SLK is faster than my Zed in a 0-100 mph drag. Again it's got a significant advantage in years and miles under its belt. Plus modern auto transmissions have really improved, to the point they are now often quite a bit faster than their manual counterparts.

And back to that Nismo, one last thought..... It's circa £38k new - a Z32 was around £36k new back in 1994.... What's that in today's money:wink:

According to the BoE inflation calculator, it's circa £68k (based on launch price in 90). :)

Then you can't even compare! 740cc injectors must mean you're running 20+PSi.

Dunno a lot guys over there seem to like the 740s over 500s. However you are right it's not like it's stock or stock with a little help. Probably got more hp than a stock 370?

It probably is rich. Like you say advances in technology and let's not forget power delivery. How a car applies and utilises it power can be as important as its gross power value. Look how quick the R35 is.

Haha Nismo 370z what a joke, I owned a regular 370gt and have driven our Nismo more then a few times, they are all junk, why my 370s now gone, the standard 370 in practice will not out run a 300, we lined my gt along side my 300 in low boost ( dyno 313bhp in low boost) the 300 left it, the Nismo ( if my manager is reading this then it's theoretical) matched the 300 to 3rd gear then the 300 pulled away slowly. They aren't even fast in the corners, they are over hyped and have to wonder how much of the power it actually has at the wheels...? Although my zed is a slicktop so the 370 doesn't have a huge weight advantage like the family estate models...hehe

And their traction control is too invasive and can't be turned off.

I always wanted one since they came out, but it's a case of don't meet your hero's, since it's been returned to our sales manager, as not fit for purpose (lots of major faults with it too) it's fund will live on in the 300zx.

My rant over, and I work for Nissan lol.

Hit the nail right on the head. Over rated is the right word. The guys seem to be forgetting that the Z32, stock made 289 lb/tq and the 370 made 266lb/tq. HP figures are important too, but more important than HP is torque.

And also weight

Edit. Nvm they weigh the same :)

Currently, yes, I am running at 23PSi.

The run against the 370 took place before switching over to 740cc injectors and increasing the boost. Back then the only mods I had done were single cone intake with velocity stack and 2.5" DP and 2.5" exhaust, both cars,370 and mine are manual too.

You know, having thought a bit more, what's really the most important number in the 370z Nismo argument....? Price! It has a £10k premium over the "normal" 370z - which makes it utterly pointless, given the almost identical performance. Good or bad, depending on your opinion, the latest generation Zed in "normal" guise comes in at c£27.5k new - that's not so bad for a 326bhp RWD sports coupe. Not enough to make me buy one, though....!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
