Bloody hell.............

I just can't decide which one to go for? 99 spec? Greddy/Scarab?

Dear oh dear, thought I had made up my mind on 99 spec but now not sure as this doesn't hang lower than standard.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Ha ha, that very pic has put me off 99 spec and onto Greddy, the silver one at Grasshopper right?

Thing is mine is also silver so wouldn't want carbon copy on the scene-know what I mean? Hmmmmm, but have different wheels etc so maybe ok.

Yep, It's the Silver Grasshopper photo. That's ChrisC's car.

The canny thing is that my car is also silver.

I guess you got your Mac1 followers, but the up and Coming ChrisC also has it's fan club.

But you got to admit. It does look the absolute nuts !!!!!

Maybe I'll just have a different back bumper or something. LOL

I had the GReddy one before my 99 and yes it was an awesome looking bumper but two things to consider.

1. The GReddy I had (well Scarab) was made of fibreglass and with the slightest of knocks broke.

2. The GReddy is a very low bumper and was a pain in the arse round here because of all the speed humps. I was forever scraping the bottom :(

Cheers

Martin

I guess the speed ramps could drive you insane after a while. Also I imagine that parking and touching the nose on the kerb would be a pain.

But two more points

1) it looks the nuts :D :D :D :D

2) Don't need a 2) cause 1) was so dam good :p :p :p

Hey I thougt of a third also, I believe the Scarab is cheaper and you don't need to purchase new indicators :D

Good luck with whichever you choose.

I MUST be sensible about this, my car is being lowered as we speak with new shocks and springs, 35mm. A GReddy/Scarab bumper would just be too low I think, scraping and grounding out all the time. So back to 99 spec then!? it is nice and flexi as its polyurathene.

............but the Greddy looks really nice...............

I reccommend the Stillen GTZ-R front. It looks great, plus it's polyurethane construction means no worries with stone chip damage.

is that what you have on your's on that link there? how was the fitment? I like the idea of the 99 spec just bolting straight on, no filling etc which I know you have to do with the Scarab.

James.

geese Dave that bumper is very low. It looks like it's scraping the floor.

Yes, thats my car in the pic. The bumper wasn't really as low as the pic makes out. Although, now my car has since been lowered, it probably is as low as th pic looks now!

But I dont really have any problems with catching it on speed bumps, except for the odd scraping of the catalyst heatshield on the higher bumps. Driving over them in first gear helps though!

It is a straight bolt-on fitting though.

SEE?????? just when I've almost convinced myself which one to go for..............

Well, the Stillen GTZ-R front does look quite similar to the Greedy. Not sure what the difference in price is, but for the sake of small bumps and grinds I think I am now tempted for the Stillen GTZ-R. What about you James. You still thinking of the '99 bumper ?.

This is tough. I still have to choose my side skirts, rear bumper, spoiler and bonnet vents. I don't want the same combination as anyone else, but I hope it will look as good as ChrisC's.

Just fitted my scarab and measured it against stock and it is not any lower. It suprised me it must look lower just because of the design.

Its also probably a mental thing in that it feels lower cos your always crapping yourself when going over speed bumps when you didnt even think about it before :D

remember wings west is also available in urethene as well now

Hmmm, I'm just not sure. Check out LYMON's rides and his 99 spec looks really nice I think.

There are alot of speed hump'ed roads round my way and I can see it driving me mad!

I think the 99 bumper is different enough for me to go for. But LOW is the way to go really, but at what price I'm thnking.

Might have another blast thru RIDES and see whats what!

Blimey, I'm surprised about the Scarab not being any lower!

Hi James,

I have Veilside C1 Front on my Z. It looks cool but i would highly recommend Stillen GTZ-R for a simple reason that its made of polyurethene and hangs lower than 99 spec.

"AMMAR"

Here's some things to consider:

Scarab is about £290 from Z Centre. The original from Greddy is not available in eurethane and costs about $600

Stillen is about £550 ish I think but nice and bendy. If you scrape

it enough the paint will still fall off but might not break.

99 Spec is nice but I don't think it looks quite as mean.

My Z has 35mm Blitz lowering springs on it and to be honest the saggy spings before looked lower anyway - remember they are probably 10 years old on most of these cars!

I haven't scraped anything yet but I can avoid the few speed bumps where I live.

To me it's worth going 1/4 of a mile out of my way to drive a car like this :D

Here's a few pics:

It looks so good.

Whats up with your windscreen wipers ?.

There piano keys!

LOL

They are razor teeth to cut up flies before they splat on the screen ;)

Peter from PPS was with us so he got a bit of free advertising with his business cards :D

Ah got ya.

And there was me thinking that you had a new windscreen and didn't want to leave wiper mark on it. ;)

Chris, are you planning on putting any mesh into the bumper scoops? I got a Scarab fitted a while back and I've got used to how it looks without any, but people keep telling me I should get some mesh put in :)

Is it possible to get the mesh fixed in place without pulling the bloody bumper off again?

  • Author

Chris, car looks really nice mate, thanx for posting the pics.

I was going to ask too if you were gonne mesh the front bumper?

James.

No I think it looks better without mesh but everyone says the same to me.

You would have to take it off to fit it.
