Ok guys, probably should of started this last year when I decided to resurrect my 1993 JDM 300zx Twin Turbo Auto. I said I call the car "Blue Thunder" (mostly just to annoy everyone:tt2:) as it will be loud and blue:thumbup:.

You'll have to bear with me as I'm going to use previous posts off this forum for most of the current bits and I'm not "computer super proficient" with adding images etc

I'll start at the very beginning if I can remember back that far:lol: (No pics in this quick update) (This is for the benefit of anyone joining after '09)

Bought the car in the summer of 2005, a low mileage (42K) 1993 300zx TT auto, within a few months the timing belt had stripped some teeth, luckily no engine damage. Replaced belts, series 2 PTU and bought my 19" TSW Catalunyas. Had to get the rear wheels custom made to 9.5" as they weren't available in this size:thumbup1:. Went on to buy a Pioneer Avic X1R single DIN touchscreen Sat-Nav stereo to liven up the sounds and my Brembo Big Brake kit.

July 2006 - Engine had a ticking noise, nothing major, diagnosed as sticky lifters, recommended solution was an oil change. Bought 2 4.5 litres of Castrol Edge 10W60, oil filter and an engine flush, brought it to a "garage" and asked them to drop the oil, using the engine flush, refill with the fresh Castrol oil heat it up, flush it out, fit the new filter and refill with the other container of Castrol Edge...Simples:innocent:

Collected the car and went home, got to the house and the engine turned into a tractor, lifted the bonnet, oil everywhere, they'd put the full 9 liters into the car and wrecked the engine.:scared::thumbdown: After a few arguments and the backing of the Motor Factors owner where the oil was bought, the "Garage" eventually admitted responsibility. They sent the car to another "Garage" who was fitting the new engine from API, more drama, Radio was stolen in their care and engine lasted a day, oil sump had been damaged and suction pipe couldn't get enough oil in, another knackered engine:scared::thumbdown:.

2007 - Sued the "Garage" and got the car back 2008.:thumbup1:

2008 - 2009 Went to a decent bloke who sorted the engine, did the manual conversion, fitted a brand new Exedy street performance clutch with an RPS Lightweight Flywheel, BuddyClub Racing Spec Coilovers, Z1 hardpipes and HKS Induction kit. November '09 Hydrolocked the engine driving into a puddle:scared::thumbdown:

2010 - After getting "Ripped off" on a Border Fuel Rail, 555 injectors and Japanese "UK" Clocks (meant to be UK but had been converted) and with a 9% pay deduction and extra Levies / charges on Civil Servants (totalling a 60% deduction of my already diminished gross pay), I called it a day on the Z:thumbdown:

Quick update, nothing major, but collected my calipers from the J&J Services, they did a tidy job of fitting new crossover pipes into the machined recesses, called over to the machine shop who are doing some bits also and swung by the powdercoaters just to check if my new aluminum brackets could be coated with the calipers, got a green light from them, so booked them in for next Wednesday, all going well:thumbup:

Quick update, calipers have gone to powdercoaters and I'm currently waiting on a response from Jo regarding a ferry crossing for a jeep and trailer for sometime next Thursday:whistling:

That's right!! I'm (hopefully) heading over to the UK with the red Z:thumbup:

Anyone around next weekend, give me a shout, as I'm planning on doing it rough  (sleeping bag in the back of the jeep)

Where you taking the red Zed Rich?

Hopefully heading over to Keith in Wales, picking up the blue Z and dropping her down to Jimmer’s, plan is to strip off the SRT8 calipers and fit my freshly powdercoated AMG’s if everything turns up for them before Thursday :thumbup1:

Might have to hold off on this for the moment, Jo gets me a discount once a year and Jimmer is up to his eyeballs in work, so it's not fair on him to have my freshly painted Z sitting in his yard / workshop when he's not ready for it:no:.

There's not much point in wasting a cheap ferry crossing just to get my red Z to Keith and having an empty trailer for the weekend, then having to pay full price at a later date. I still might pop over to do some alterations to my blue Z and leave the red one here for another while where some of the basic mechanics (swap out the subframe etc) can be done. I'll see what's what when I get home:thumbup1:

Ha!! Jealousy will get you nowhere mate!! You don’t want a second one, you’ll always be broke!! Was busy stripping the second set of AMG’s down today, then went for a spin down to the guys at JDM, sorted out a couple of sets of wheels for members and forgot to collect my bloody tires for the Volks, (which I’ve really taken a shine to), discussed options of putting the 9’s on the front of either car and building out the 8’s to 10.5-11”:innocent:

Needless to say, this won’t be happening for quite a long time, have a leak in my stem valve of one of the Veilsides, so looked into getting a set of these also:whistling:

Looks great. Why did you decide to go for these instead of a set of the other calipers you’ve reconditioned?

Because I’m a brake whore , the first set (SRT8 6 pots) were all I was doing until my 18” Veilsides wouldn’t go over them, I said I’d make do and got 19” Equips to fit instead (still not sure if they’d clear the SRT8’s), as I have two Z’s, I decided to do up a set that the Veilsides would clear, hence the Porsche Brembo 18z 6 pots, then I stumbled across a LH AMG for small money, took me 3 months to source a RH one. I’m not rushing to finish the cars so managed to source a second set of AMG’s over time, so I’m selling off the other kits to help fund my outstanding Z debts.:whistling::yes: The AMG’s fit inside all my 18” & 19” wheels comfortably and will look
