Ok guys, probably should of started this last year when I decided to resurrect my 1993 JDM 300zx Twin Turbo Auto. I said I call the car "Blue Thunder" (mostly just to annoy everyone:tt2:) as it will be loud and blue:thumbup:.

You'll have to bear with me as I'm going to use previous posts off this forum for most of the current bits and I'm not "computer super proficient" with adding images etc

I'll start at the very beginning if I can remember back that far:lol: (No pics in this quick update) (This is for the benefit of anyone joining after '09)

Bought the car in the summer of 2005, a low mileage (42K) 1993 300zx TT auto, within a few months the timing belt had stripped some teeth, luckily no engine damage. Replaced belts, series 2 PTU and bought my 19" TSW Catalunyas. Had to get the rear wheels custom made to 9.5" as they weren't available in this size:thumbup1:. Went on to buy a Pioneer Avic X1R single DIN touchscreen Sat-Nav stereo to liven up the sounds and my Brembo Big Brake kit.

July 2006 - Engine had a ticking noise, nothing major, diagnosed as sticky lifters, recommended solution was an oil change. Bought 2 4.5 litres of Castrol Edge 10W60, oil filter and an engine flush, brought it to a "garage" and asked them to drop the oil, using the engine flush, refill with the fresh Castrol oil heat it up, flush it out, fit the new filter and refill with the other container of Castrol Edge...Simples:innocent:

Collected the car and went home, got to the house and the engine turned into a tractor, lifted the bonnet, oil everywhere, they'd put the full 9 liters into the car and wrecked the engine.:scared::thumbdown: After a few arguments and the backing of the Motor Factors owner where the oil was bought, the "Garage" eventually admitted responsibility. They sent the car to another "Garage" who was fitting the new engine from API, more drama, Radio was stolen in their care and engine lasted a day, oil sump had been damaged and suction pipe couldn't get enough oil in, another knackered engine:scared::thumbdown:.

2007 - Sued the "Garage" and got the car back 2008.:thumbup1:

2008 - 2009 Went to a decent bloke who sorted the engine, did the manual conversion, fitted a brand new Exedy street performance clutch with an RPS Lightweight Flywheel, BuddyClub Racing Spec Coilovers, Z1 hardpipes and HKS Induction kit. November '09 Hydrolocked the engine driving into a puddle:scared::thumbdown:

2010 - After getting "Ripped off" on a Border Fuel Rail, 555 injectors and Japanese "UK" Clocks (meant to be UK but had been converted) and with a 9% pay deduction and extra Levies / charges on Civil Servants (totalling a 60% deduction of my already diminished gross pay), I called it a day on the Z:thumbdown:

Yeah Joel, won't be seen but I'll still make an effort, hoping I won't have to pull the engine for a long time after this, so I said I'd rustproof as much of it as I can. I'm taking a break from the car today, want to get the Wiring Loom Group Buy going so we can see where we stand regarding numbers. Also trying to sort out all my brake calipers to see if I can raise a few quid,

What car have them gold (bigger than GTR) Brembo calipers in your for sale thread come from Richie?

Think they're off a US Infinity, I can measure them up?? They're similar to 350Z calipers and probably utilize the same pads mate. :thumbup1:

I was just curious really. Although it's probably worth knowing for a future buyer, do the oem z32 bolts work with those?

Yup:thumbup:

The calipers were from a US Sentra SE-R Spec V Joel, uses 350z pads and are direct bolt on to the 300zx:thumbup:

Today I got the Z back on the lift for a couple of hours, I had an issue with the back wheels scraping, so I tightened all the nuts and bolts on the rear subframe, installed the Anti roll bar only to find that my Energy Suspension bushes aren't tight to the bar??. I then moved to the front and removed my leaking power steering rack and fitted my NA one with Energy suspension bushes, pushed the car back out and no wheel rub:thumbup:

Tomorrow my wheel guy is calling over to see what we can do with the Veilside Front wheels and to roll/flare my arches if needed:thumbup1:

On another note, I won a Kyosho 1:18 scale 300zx model in blue, so happy days:thumbup:

Apparently these are rare enough and fetch a few quid??

Today I had my wheel guy down, we had a look at the Volks GT7's but they wouldn't clear my calipers either!!:scared: He took a few measurements and has gone home to make a few calculations and emails to sort out my front Veilsides:thumbup:

He also took a pic of the car and applied a few filters before posting it up on his social media page, I liked the pic so much that it's now my profile pic on Facebook:punk::clap:

I saw that. When the tail getting finished up? (lights and spoiler) as that would really transform the rear of the car.

There's no panic on them just yet Alic, they're tucked up safely in the shed, working on degreasing the engine bay and doing a little tidying up in there while the engine is out, that's next week, after that it's back to the engine to fit tubs manifolds and down pipes, the loom should be here then, so fit that, then the engine, get it mapped and then get it painted, probably around Jan/Feb for paint and new trims, also tucked up neatly in the shed :thumbup1:

Today I had a couple of secret Z32 missions to take care of, all finally done, the best one was to go and collect my new Z32 Factory manual SWB TT, it's also in blue and is in excellent condition with no rust anywhere, totally original inside and out, with immaculate paintwork, interior could do with a good cleaning and it has a loose wing mirror but that's it. Worth every penny paid:thumbup1:

Nice! They are rare but not in my house as I've got 3. 1 mint red one boxed. Another red one without a box so I modified it slightly. The other was the same colour as yours but it was scratched when I got it so I sprayed it white.

Back down at the car today, treated the battery tray with some Rust Remedy, degreased the engine bay and removed all the old HICAS mounting brackets, I'll need to fill the holes to tidy it up.

Quick question, what are these connections for and where do people move them to when decluttering the engine bay??

Got the manifold and drivers side turbo off, also noticed I have 40p heads, these are the good ones or are they the ones that give trouble?

Also noticed the lads had split my drivers side accordion pipe:thumbdown: anyone got one spare??

So today, I stripped the turbos down and switched the ancillaries across to my GT525's, fitted new copper washers to all the turbo water pipes, hoping to have everything back together for the end of next week:thumbup1:
