Have any of you guys owned a TT then moved on to an NA? If so how do you find the difference in performance, drive etc.

I'm still looking to get back into a Zed and might be going down the auto NA route. Although as some of you may know, my ultimate preference is a SWB TT. Should I do it? Reality is that I won't be in a position to afford my preffered Zed.

All thoughts and opinions welcome.

Daffy.

I've never driven a TT, but my LWB NA couldn't nearly keep up with a slicktop TT! It's definitely enough power for fun road use though. Shame to be missing out on HICAS, but since so many don't like it maybe it's not such a big deal.

I went from an auto TT to an auto na and was so underwhelmed by the power I sold it again within a couple of weeks.

I then went straight back out and bought a manual n/a which was much better!

Obviously the power difference is night and day but I really can't put the na manual down at all as it is still so much more fun than the auto which is just sluggish and dull.

Thanks for the input, appreciated. I deleted the HICAS on my Slicktop so could live without that I reckon. Decisions??

Cheers bud, again the input is appreciated. Definitely food for thought. Cheers.

I look at it this way - a TT would be more fun, but I wouldn't be able to enjoy it as often. My Z gets me to work every day and that will probably be the case for another couple of years. I'd be a lot more worried about money if the car was a TT, in my situation.

Then again, if I had a garage I would probably buy a TT and a cheap shed to drive for the colder parts of the year.

what pricing are you looking at?

In all honesty, not a lot :( I'm selling some of my old school bmx to fund it. Although the money is supposed to go on our house refurb lol

you could easily pick at a decent na for £2000, but i hope you wont be looking for a spotless car with no work to do with "not a lot"

But I hope you give in to the urge and buy another

Daffy.

I really do feel the stock tt is a slow car I know lots don't agree. turing the boost up a little to 14 psi it better but still feel heavy and slow. I guess the na would be very under powered

Cheers Dan. A stock TT would be plenty of power for me. More than enough power for road use. Cheers.

I found the stock tt very under powered for it weight I went to 14 psi I did feel better but still just wasn't rite for me now the uprated turbos are on hope to get it round 400 to 450bhp I hope that feels better for now

I have both

I much prefer the NA especially at lower speeds

I think the TT is only really greatly better in situations where you want to go from 40mph to 70mph instantly.

if I'm on a dual carriage way being held up and I want to pull into the fast lane I need a run up and a gap in the na , whilst in the TT I just pull out and floor it

want to buy a TT manual shortie that needs a little love?

I think Alanz is / was selling his SWB tt for OK money, have a look at the classified ads Daff:thumbup:

Ive got an NA now after having previous turbo versions.

I don't mind it at all and they sound far superior to a TT! Like other people have said at lower speeds it is better than the TT but it still pulls well! To suggest they are underpowered is ridiculous. However mine is a fine day only car so I will probably be swapping out for a TT engine at some stage.

Thanks bud. I'm sure the power will be ok for me, it'll probably only get used on a nice Sunday anyhow. I'm that rare breed that actually does enjoy just going for a drive, with no particular route or destination in mind.

I'd like to be in a position to invest a few quid more for a nice TT, but priorities are different these days. Still hanker after a Zed though.

I had lwb tt autos then a lwb na manual, the na was lacking a bit top end, but the acceleration was great, had more fun in it then any of the tt's before it,

That being said I have a slicktop tt manual now, and that's 1000x the best imo.

Depends what you're comparing it to Dan...

It is slow next to (say) a McLaren; but is still faster than most "ordinary" cars - so to simply say "it is a slow car" will have pretty much everyone disagreeing with you mate!!

Anyway, back to Dave's post.... Gio went from a TT manual to a NA auto. His latest one is a very fine late-spec car indeed  It's good to see you're coming back to Zed ownership Dave....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Depends how slow the driver is also

Because they are, I'm not going to say large or heavy because in comparison to most cars on the road these days they arn't, proper size cars as apposed to a flat out sports car, I'm thinking Elise etc here they always feel slower. Comparitively an original mini that's been tuned a bit feels quick, because there's nothing of it. Equally an Corsa can feel nippy. A friend of mine used to have a track prepped 1.3 60s mini, straight cut box etc, everywhere you went it felt like you were doing 100+mph, it actually only had like 100bhp and was only marginally faster than my old Capri, another friends CRX was rapid in comparison to both. A stock TT would literally eat both, even an NA. Power to weight is a big factor, not only in actual acceleration but in perception. Watch the needle next time you punch it and it's surprising, you just don't feel like your going that fast. Perception of speed is weird, the z32 is one of those decieving cars, esp when you take into account it's 26 years old now!!!

I went from a TT auto to a swb na manual and I prefer it to the TT auto, if you were to get an na get a manual version or convert it to manual.
