GIBSTER-TT Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I would never use this company again and strongly advise to be very wary of the quality and customer care after they take your money. My dealing's with this company was not good from the start. Originally contacted them for a quote and they told me the process of the work they do which sounded professional. They did not mention or does it state on their website that the powder coat can react with diamond cut finish! I booked the wheels in to be dropped off on the Saturday before 2pm when they close. I arrived around 1pm to find the guy had gone home. Great start! Since getting them home I noticed all 4 wheels have reacted as well as 2 of the wheel's poorly powder coated. I contacted the company and took a wheel down to show them the problem. I was told that day by a member of staff to bring the wheels back so they can correct the problem. A few days later I take or 4 wheels to them to be told that this is a common problem and they will charge me £100 to laquer them again. Not only that but they are happy with the standard of work. And because the powder coating is done by hand missing parts of the wheel can happen? This is not professional as they obviously haven't been checked or should of left the shop in this condition in the first place. Happy to take your money without warning you of the possible outcome of the results! Poor quality, poor service never again! Quote

Joely P Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Sorry to see you bad experience there Danny. I've had bad experiences in the past with other alloy wheel refurb companies, it does seem to be a bit of a lottery! Did you send them solely to have the diamond cut rims powder coated? Quote
Funkysi Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Bare alloy should not be powdercoated - should always be lacquered. Sorry to see you had problems mate. Quote
Joely P Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Bare alloy should not be powdercoated - should always be lacquered. Sorry to see you had problems mate. Even more so with a diamond cut finish. Quote
Funkysi Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 A note to add that most alloy wheel refurbishers always mention a caveat in their work - diamond cut is never covered under warranty. Quote
GIBSTER-TT Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 I had the company powder coat and diamond cut the wheels as the fronts was originally all black and the rears centre was silver. I wanted them done properly and this is the result :( Quote
rolandas Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Diamont cut and powder coat nobody will give you a warranty. From the pics you can only see wheel lips. They are not diamont cut Quote
GIBSTER-TT Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 What is ot then? They said they diamond cut the lips? Quote

Diamont cut and powder coat nobody will give you a warranty. From the pics you can only see wheel lips. They are not diamont cut Whilst there are still the occasional horror story (expected for the large turnover of wheels they refurbish), I have generally heard very good things about Lepsons and according to their website, you're both wrong! A friend of mine is having his wheels colour changed here in a few weeks after scouring the Internet for the most reliable solution based on the feedback he found. http://www.lepsons.com/the-lepsons-guarantee/ Quote
Mondo Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I thought the diamond cut was done after the powdercoating and whatnot...? Danny's initial post reads like they did it first and it's everything that came after that's caused the issues. Quote
Daffy Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 Why would they not inform you of the issues that may arise specific to your wheels before starting/you paying for the job. That combined with the complete lack of after sales care and I'd be fuming like you. Too many companies are too quick to take your hard earned without giving the quality of work in return. Gutted for you bud. Quote
GIBSTER-TT Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) This company give 3 year warranty on the powder coat! The laquer they used is clear powder coat. Edited December 8, 2015 by GIBSTER-TT Quote
rolandas Posted December 8, 2015 Posted December 8, 2015 I just gave my wheels for refurb . The company give 5 years warranty on any paint. But they are not cheap. 800£ for 4 wheels Quote
Terry Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I had similar problem with a local powder coaters on my candy blue plenum, they done it 3 times and never got it perfect, they even said well you should have said it was all on show and wanted it perfect, if i wanted it to be tidy and not right on show wouldnt of asked for the most exspensive colour lol... my brother in law works in smart repairs and they do alloy wheels and powder coating and everything looks great from them, i also have had problems with my car respray, company painted it twice cause i moaned and its still crap they couldnt do it 1st or 2nd time thought theres no point letting them load paint after paint on it, i dont know how they get away with it if i put an engine together and left the head bolts loose and then said whole well sorry... just a nightmare getting people to do things right and nice... Where they've put the time and effort in, it's great! There's a couple of areas though where it looks as if they just wanted to get it finished and out the door asap, and those little niggles really detract from the overall finish :( Quote
AndyP Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 I have used Lepsons a couple of times and they were fine. may not be the cheapest, but the do collect/deliver as well. Quote
