Came across this blog today which belongs to an American member here. It's probably the best Z32 blog I've seen yet. Particularly the model differences and evolution details, which are far more comprehensive than other sources I've seen.

The scale of the interesting and useless facts he has is crazy! Particularly on Jap zeds - I learned quite a bit from it about my own car, such as that the "UV Cut" decal on my DS quarter window isn't aftermarket. Just as well I didn't remove it after all. :whistling: Iangreenfield, some bits may also appeal to you as I hadn't known some of the details about the version R.

What years? My 1990 is JDM and hasn't got them, they are only heated.

My 1989/90 model has folding but not heated. JDM car. I thought it was UK/EURO spec that had the heated non folders.

Yes, the left one.

Here is the breakdown in addition to the mirror control.

JDM:

Power folding switch.

Optional Auto power fold control module.

USDM:

Mirror defrost switch (early models only. This feature was later incorporated into the rear window defrost switch)

Electronic Adjustable suspension (turbo models only)

Euro:

Only mirror controls for early UK and France models.

Heated seat switch added in 92 both UK and mainland Europe.

Mainland Europe also had height adjustable headlights switch. (Germany, Poland, Italy, Lithuania etc except France)

Australia:

Only mirror controls.

Would it be worth it to buy the US suspention system and retro fit? Has anyone done this?

Euro spec cars have the same rear shocks and actuators as USDM electronic adjustable suspension. Their system doesn't have the front shocks and actuators or the switch. This system only works or stiffens the shocks when the e brake is applied. I'm not sure whether the Euro models have the same module as USDM that controls the suspension however.

I added the electronic suspension to my non turbo car. It was easy to do.

I enjoy having it with lowering springs on my TT as well.

99/00 Version R models have a sport suspension. I'm not sure what the detailed characteristics are of it. I do know they do have a different shock than found previously on JDM models .

I don't have anything to compare it to, but it's very stiff. Not quite uncomfortable, but I'll avoid all potholes.

If I had to guess it is probably very similar to the USDM in sport mode. It's too bad the new model reference guide I have from Nissan on the 99/00 Version R models doesn't really detail what exactly is new other than shocks and body stiffening enhancements.

Speaking of mirrors, do the JDM ones feature different angles for the left and right mirrors like the jdm primera and skyline? I remember I bought a set for my Primera and they where absolutely useless for a lhd car cause the left one was angled too much inwards

Correct. The JDM mirrors are set up permanently for RHD. Using them in a LHD makes viewing anything out of them useless without modification. My blog on this shows how I modified them to make viewing out of them in a LHD car possible.

Just read it, I was thinking somewhere along the same lines of combining jdm and eudm mirror parts to make a useable set but never got that far before I sold the car. BTW are you on hidplanet? I remember a thread there discussing some jdm hids and eu/us headlight glass differences and a xenon projector retrofit

Not certain you could easily swap those parts. You'll like have to make some custom pieces as I had to make it work.

Yes that was me. I had originally posted there for some ideas and help but really didn't get too far. After really looking at the two units and playing with them on my own I now have a good game plan for making the two work. I just haven't had time to make any further progress but hope to do so in the coming weeks.

Do update the thread if you figure out something as i'm following it :)

I certainly will. Thank you.

Thread revival alert...……

I've been liaising with Greg these last few days over this and that and have told him about 'my find' or lack of it !!

On my donor JDM 1995 I always knew the mirrors folded out when the acc position was reached with the key and they folded in when the doors were remotely locked, so behaving like this it was safe to believe that I've got the ultra rare factory auto closing module that 'lucky' Greg has got - sadly not, see below :mad2:.

Two piggy backing relays behind the radio console, skilfully done I might add at some point in the cars life but not really what I wanted to see.

I believe that system was only available on very late cars, and functioned when the control switch was left n the up position.

My 1995 has this function but works with the ignition, when you get in and turn the key the mirrors open and close when taking the key out. They can also be done manually, would be better with the remote so you can still see out of the mirror when opening the door.
