Hi guys, I'd like to set up a poll regarding my Blue Z, as the missus is on the mend and there's a few pound gong back into the Z fund, I may be able to get going on the engine replacement. The mechanic reckons that if I'm going to change the shade of blue, that I should get the engine bay done while he's got the engine out. The thing is, it's extra money and as it's a long way off from a respray, should I get the bay done in Satin / Gloss black or should I just keep the car the original blue and forget about a colour change???

Gaz, could you set up a poll to see if people think the Original colour or a Liquid Pearl Blue would be best??

I'm of two minds as I'm going to be updating both front and rear bumpers, spoilers etc, would the Liquid Pearl Blue update the car more and make it look more modern? would the standard blue tie in with updated bumpers or would it look aged??

Opinions please?

I may well be in the minority here, but I'm not a fan of black engine bays on non-black cars. Yes, it helps to hide all the wiring and stuff, but it just looks wrong in my opinion unless the exterior is black as well.

As much as I like FunkySi's Zed and as incredibly impressive as it is in the flesh, I personally feel that the black engine bay detracts slightly from the rest of the car.

I understand why he did it: I didn't change my body colour to white when I had the chance for the exact same reason.

To my mind, the under-bonnet is just as important as things like the doorshuts - they should all match the exterior colour :)

A lot of it depends on what you are going to use the car for and your future plans for the car.

If you want a show car or similar then go for the bright blue, it needs to match really

If you are looking to keep the car for a long time as a standardish car and want it to be potentially worth more in the future, I would go for the correct blue it is now.

If you just want it to look smart and make your mind up later, go for satin black

Leave as standard blue, give it a good clean and polish whilst the engine is out though!

I toyed with lots of colour change choices when I had my car resprayed, I went with the standard red in the end and don't regret it.

Loving that mate:clap:, maybe it's just that mine looks a bit grotty. Thanks for the input fellas, my real question was more in the line of.. Should I change the exterior colour of the car from the Standard Blue or go for a Liquid Pearl Blue??

The engine bay issue will only arise if i'm painting the car a different blue. Could we change the poll to Keep standard Blue or Change to Liquid Pearl Blue??

Sorry to be a pest Gaz:whistling:

keep it standard blue

..... and I have gone with the original colour

Yup - me too.....

.....Black engine bays are not a bad idea; they hide wiring, disguise dirt etc. if yours is not a gleaming show car.... But the best option for any car remains the body colour IMO. What I don't get, though, is why Nissan did not bother to properly finish the under bonnet paintwork on the ZX. Cost cutting, no doubt.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've decided that I'm going to keep the original colour as it will be cheaper to finish off. If and when I have a spare €5K lying around I can then consider a full colour change. I only hope the Twinz rear and skirts will suit to the orginal colour.:thumbup1:
