Ok Guys, following JAE last weekend, this is more an observation but the answers will interest me

I have owned and driven a Z for 12 years, I don't profess to know a lot about cars but on the other hand I know enough, and am always willing to talk and learn more especially about Zs. Over the weekend not one

And I mean nobody asked me about my car or expressed any comment on it good bad or indifferent.

I could have discussed my lightened flywheel, my upgraded clutch, my new exhaust made up of a copy of a Mines system at the front a d Trust back boxes and pipes, my Defi recording box, my Veilside Andrews wheels, how the SWB is so much different car to drive compared to 2+2. I know I was having fun and a few drinks but I like to show off and talk about my car just like all owners. Liz had the same observation.

I don't think it's the fact that your a lady tulip;) and most people (cough)....men think you lady's don't know one end of a car to another.. Lol, but in my case..even though I'm a petrol head...I get bored of talking cars after a short while, and sometimes just like to talk about other interesting things:) like.....bikes... Lol,but you lady's do have nice zeds sweet;)

Is it not just a case of pretty much everyone on our stand having essentially the same car...?

I didn't get asked very much about mine either. Someone did ask me if I did the interior myself... someone from this very forum... seriously! But it was just general chit-chat for the most part.

Also most people present would be reasonably familiar with peoples' spec lists from here as well.

In my opinion, all factors in why nobody seemed to want to talk Zeds with you, Trish :)

I will pretty much echo what Mondo has said; I find I'm asked lots of questions about my car by people that know little about them, (main one being, "what kind of car is that...?")

Don't take it personally, they were probably just all sick of talking cars :).

I've been to a few car shows/meets now and the Z really doesn't get a lot of interest. It's not just you!

I agree with the above 2 comments also Trish, the only questions I was asked about my car were from people who didn't know what car it was,I was more interested in keeping beers cold than cars!

But they do still turn heads... ;)

In all honesty, I'm not sure whether our stand got a lot of attention over the weekend - a lot of people walked past but, at least when I was paying attention, I didn't see many people stopping to ask questions or take photos.

I don't know whether that was the same for the majority of clubs there or not. Maybe the bulk of our cars were "too standard" to garner interest at a show like that...?

It was a different sort of show though lets be honest, most of the people there were in their own cars, I don't think that there were too many "Members of the public" who just came to look round. This is completely different to a well advertised classic car show like Weston Park or Tatton Park where all sorts come to have a look round. In my experience our cars have attracted a lot of attention at the static type classic car shows with plenty of people asking about them and taking pics. So I think its just that JAE is not that sort of show. Maybe the organisers should advertise it locally, we were speaking to a guy at the garage while Trish & Liz got fuel for the drive home and he was asking why the area was full of nice sports cars so clearly Newark in general were unaware the show was even there. So maybe advertising the show to locals would be a good idea and would result in bigger gate takings and a bigger better experience all round.

Trish we did talk at length about your red car did we not but I think in general I for one was just relaxing after a tough week at work with my zed buddies.

And you were doing such a good job of looking after us all too.

As Ian's just said, it was weekend of relaxation for me more than anything. I should really apologise to a couple of people who wanted to talk "business" with me (Tom and Ash, at least) as there's a very real chance that I came across as completely disinterested! :(

Coupled to the fact that I didn't take an oxygen canister with me, I probably didn't really speak to that many people at length. I let Fran do the bulk of "our" socialising, I think....

Oops!!

It's kinda rare to end up talking cars at a car show like that. You may get a little chat here and there based around the little tweaks you do, the only time you end up discussing stuff like engine components is places like here. It's heavy conversation if there's no reason behind it.

If you want to get conversations started you've gotta be different.

Trish, I'm not sexist at all.... In fact I enjoy sex lol

I seem to remember talking about yours, and Liz's car on several occasions - I had a great laugh at the new modification you put on your sisters car when 'cough' the tent blew up and covered your view 'cough'.:lol::lol::slap:

I think you for, I've seen most of you so many times, I know all about your cars.... And, clearly none of them compare to my black Limousine haha.

Just messing of course. I love you all.

I'll drop you a PM to give you an idea of cost, buddy :thumbup1:

When JAE was at Wicksteed park, you did get a fair amount of paying public and we did have some moments of interest from other clubs, like you do when you do a walk around of the site, also amongst ourselves a fair bit of chatting cars and mods etc.

We were in a good location at Wicksteed, pretty much near the entrance, so most of the cars coming into the site had to go past our stand and therefore possibly create some interest from people just being nosey.

Next year will be different and improved as we move forward with some ideas and members interested in organising the event for the club

You say all that but us members notice every car on the stand, yes others stood at mine and we chatted but i talked to someone about yours and more specifically your wheels and we walked over to it and discussed some more.

Wasn't that me? I think you were saying how they were similar to yours and I was saying they're the Veilside ones the same as Jason Farrows (just not as huge or deep)

Great!!! Thanks all for the feed back on my observations, however I am now wondering what was going on, when there were mulpile heads under bonnets, people on their hunkers, and heads stuck in and asses sticking out of interiors. I am over it:biggrin:

Over here Jay you will, find its a bit of jealousy especially if a young guy has one plus with Nissans the Skyline is the popular one here

Trish, to be honest when Stephen said you have to be different, I tend to agree, but ive found that with my own z.

Several people have commented on the bonnet vents on my car, most of them don't like them, but it's an opportunity to start a conversation even if it puts your back up! Lol..

I thought your car was a nice example and I was the same, trying to talk about the cars as I haven't owned a Z for very long and would have liked to have chatted about the cars more but it did seem like most that were there on Friday were more interested in drinking and chilling out. I can't say I blame them as work and general life can get on top by the weekend.

I had the most conversation about the cars with that northerner phutumsch lol.. The L.E.D lighting he'd added to his car was really cool.

I was only there on Friday so can't comment on the whole weekend but I'd tend to agree that for a car show and a gathering of owners there wasn't a major interest being discussed.

I seem to remember Friday though that you may not have remembered much of the conversation lol..

I just enjoyed meeting a few of you and it was a shame I didn't find out about the room becoming available at the premiere Inn until after I'd got home! I'd have stayed if I'd known earlier..

You should have camped lol.

I have to be honest, I felt like I had a good mix of car talk and random talk with most. I think wi me, I've met so many of you several times, I already know quite a bit about your cars too
