So for anyone running windows 7/8/8.1 you get a free upgrade.

For those who are scared to make the leap I've been running the full released version at home and work

for over 3 weeks now and its perfectly stable and a great improvement over its predecessors.

I'm currently working out a plan to upgrade over 70 pc's at my work.

And for those who think that they will just wait for the 10.1 or SP1 release don't bother as due to the way

Microsoft are now running the show the system is now designed to get od updates on the fly so new features

get released and pushed directly to your system.

Personally as a tech head I love it and think anyone who wants to upgrade I highly recommend it.

Interested to see what it's like - I actually found Windows 8 to be better than previous releases, although I think they totally missed the point with the tile interface.

Still use Linux though.

If you are running W7 64bit as I am what are the key improvements in moving to W10?

I've been using the test version for a few months now and seen it get better and better. I actually like the old 8.1 tile system as much as everyone hated it but I think 10 is definitely an improvement

But does it have a proper start menu like windows 7 like they have been promissing ???

That kinda shows what I meant about them missing the point with the tile interface. I like it, but I have to go to the desktop to do pretty much anything. Why bother?

Yep the tile system is great for touch screen devices but if you are running an old laptop with a slide pad like my sister is its a proper PITA, she's nearly thrown it through the window on more than one occasion.

for those who like the tile interface it can be enabled as full screen like the old one.

I actually liked it as I grouped all my common apps together and I made its background match the desktop

so it wasn't as bad navigating back and forth.

i've been running several test machines for weeks and got to say it's better than windows 8 (the reason i switched to mac) so now just in the process of starting to upgrade to full versions

I love windows 8, always have, always will. Ive got Windows 8.1 pro running on all 5 of my machines and even mine and the wifes phones run windows phone 8!

Im looking forward to 10, but I think Microsoft should have stuck to their guns and kept the tiles (metro interface). The world seems to hate change and I feel people jumped on the "lets hate Microsoft for doing some new" band wagon. Actually once you have learnt how to get around in windows 8, and set it up properly, its so much easier and quicker to do things. team it with office 365 and the cloud, i can enter my shifts into a spread sheet on my phone at work, have its save to the phone, cloud and pc at home, then have it print at home so its ready waiting for me. They worked hard on integration between hardware and cracked it i think...

Windows 10 should be even better as Microsoft has a history of releasing something bad then much better:

Windows 3.1 - Windows 95

Windows ME - Windows XP

Windows Vista - Windows 7

Windows 8 - Windows 10?

im running windows ten on my lap top , upgraded from 8 , 8 was always designed for touch screens, 10 is purpose built and designed for non touch screen interfaces, i like it ..takes some getting used to and is slow as buggery at first but soon comes good,

I'm running 10 on all my machines now. Its really good. My only complaint is media centre is gone, so I cant watch live tv on my pc anymore. I'll have to find another way now...
