Hi guys,

I am a noob here, and am thinking of buying a 300ZX. What would be the normal price of a 1998+, manual twin turbo preferably Targa but not esential, Long wheel base, White or Pearl white? (I dont even know what standard colours are there but i prefer these)

Is there a difference in gear boxes? Are they 5 or 6 speed? (

Please advise,

Alek.

That is a music to my ears!

In what respect is it lower then later model? This is where I need an advice from a person who knows. Please advise what vehicle is the "golden middle" as you may, or the best model? (stil being manual tt)

Please advise.

Many thanks.

P.S. Please everyone, can you post a picture of your dream (or yours) Zed.

There is a decent table to compare somewhere but off the top of my head.

Later cars have airbags with a slightly big and fat wheel. I don't like as much.

Later cars have a conventional heater knob that is less cool than the earlier space ship controls. In the middle years you get the best, "space ship" digital climate cobtrol thing with better functions.

Later ones rarely have cruise control.

98 ones have a better gearbox (slightly)

94 ones have a slightly better inlet manifold (may be wrong)

89 ones have a few niggles that were sorted in 1990.

The series 1 ptu (distributor) can melt but mine never did in 80'000 miles

96+ has a different inlet manifold, there are few differences however, slightly different casting marks and some extra bracketry ; what the 96 model does have are slightly better heads.

The airbag (singular) - dual only on US models was a delete option, there's a later non-airbag wheel that looks a little strange.

I don't have any earlier one for comparison, but the gear change is amazing!

Just buy the best example you can afford. The years have all got pros and cons. An early 90s one say 93-96 is a great age to aim for but doesn't guarentee anything. You want something rot free with a good solid service history. The rest is just details.

Why don't you pop along to beaulieu for simply Japanese next month, there will be a fair few club cars there so you will be able to get a proper look at a few and speak to owners face to face. Can't say fairer than that can we :D
