John..I have read your post about your accident mate...sorry to hear about the Zed...Glad u r ok though.

I think the service you are looking for is something called the BMI..or something like that...It protects u against an un-insured party. Your insurance compnay should be able to put you in touch with them.

Beats making a claim on YOUR insurance and having sky high premiums for next year.

Also in closing....I would personally have injured a few more of the tossers myself...with a nice hard baseball bat.

Chris,

Thanks very much for this - yeah, the insurance company have just mentioned this, it's the MIB (Men In Black??) - Motorist's Insurance Bureau, they said this may be an option *if* the bastardos involved don't have any insurance (what do they mean "if").

Anyhow - I wish I'd had the presence of mind to at least grab hold of the driver, but I didn't really know where I was - only really managed to shout some vague obscenities then nip back to the car to try and call the missus - by the time I turned round again, they'd all scarpa'd - the coppers did manage to pick 'em up, but I can't see much coming of it.

Thanks again:D

John.

Damn - I'm so slow to post, now I've got to change my post to fit your new reply :S

Yes, the ominous-sounding MIB - I had to use them when some uninsured son-of-a-taxi-driver rear-ended the Celica just three weeks after I'd bought it.

As far as I understand it, we all pay a premium on our insurance that goes to this uninsured driver's scheme, for situations like yours. You don't have to claim on your own insurance (well, I didn't with the TPFT on the Celica, might be different for FC), but you do have to pay an excess (maybe a coupla hundred pounds).

If you want more info, I can check all the paperwork from my rear-ending... but basically, the solicitors I was claiming through dealt with everything for me (just don't go through solicitors recommended by your insurance company, or supplied via the "legal advice" premium they push, cos they will screw you hard & painfully).

Oh, and bummer about the accident, JohnBoyZ32... glad you're OK :) Can we start another rant about the state of society now?

Bah, you just know the scrots are going to get let off with a slap on the wrist... grrr, they should be sent down on a Zedslaughter charge :(

Better to pay them 200 quid than next years premium hike.

I have had this happen once before...this was before MIB...I had to sit on the little fecker till the plod arrived. In the end I had to take him to small claims..Got my cash though.:D
